asked, using that damned nickname again.
"What?"
"Sing for them. Make sure they are your mates. Don't listen to any other magic, your siren song will show the truth."
"I'll talk to them about it," I said, not willing to promise to do something that could turn my mates into puppets.
We wrapped up the call, and the guys all stared at me expectantly.
"Well, what did she have to say?"
"That my father was an incubus named Felix. Oh, and that sirens have mates, but the only way that we can tell is by singing to them." I shrugged as I plopped down in my chair and took a long drink from my, now cold, coffee.

"Felix?" Magnus asked at the same time the others started asking about the siren song.
"Woah, woah, woah...one at a time please. It's way too early for all of this, including the conversation I just had with my mother." I sipped on my coffee again, grimaced and moved to put it in the microwave.
"Here, just have mine," Logan said, pushing his coffee mug to where I'd been sitting.
"As much as I appreciate that, I think this calls for a fresh pot. Plus, I like my coffee sweet." I smiled, knowing that they all underestimated how sweet I liked my coffee. I prepared my cup and set the pot to brew before coming back to the table and looking at Magnus. "You seem familiar with my father's name?"
"Felix is a high-ranking demon. That he would have a child and no one know about it, is surprising that's all."
"But you know him?" I raised an eyebrow.
"I know of him. I could probably get you in touch with him if you wanted though?"
That was tempting. I almost jumped and said yes, but something made me stop. The man-demon had walked out on my mother as soon as he found out I was going to be a thing. Why would he want to hear from me? Why would I want him in my life? The questions swirled around in my brain, so I just said, "Let me think about it."
Magnus nodded.
I looked at Casper, then Logan, and finally landed on Ausar. "You all had questions?"
"I thought you weren't allowed to sing unless you wanted to turn the person into a drone?" Casper asked, drawing my attention away from Ausar's luscious lips and inquisitive stare.
"We're not, which is the catch. If you're not truly my mates then it would put you under my control," I said carefully.
"Do you not believe we are your mates?" Ausar asked.
I turned to my sphinx. "No, I do. I just...What if this magic that brought us together is someone else's doing? Why would I find four men who believe I'm their mate now? All together? Something feels off about it. I mean, what if I stumbled onto some magic or something? I don't want you to be bound to me for the rest of your lives if we aren't meant to be together."
"I was interested in you a long time ago, I just never got up the courage to say anything," Logan added.
"I wish you would have," I said with a wink. "Seriously though, I don't expect you guys to want to do this. I mean, it would be a huge risk to you with no reward. It's not like I'm going to kick you out if we don't do this, I just...I wanted to be sure is all."
"You can sing for me," Magnus said without a hint of hesitation in his voice.
I looked at the red demon, feeling something like hope flutter in my chest. He was willing to trust me that much? My stomach flip-flopped at the thought.
"And me," Casper said, pausing before adding, "So long as you come on an adventure with me sometime soon?"
A blush rose on my cheeks. An adventure? I nodded, already feeling giddy with anticipation. Not just about the adventure, but about singing. I hadn't done it since I was a child and learned the hard way exactly what the power of my voice was. It was something they should probably hear.
"As much as I appreciate your willingness to hear me sing, you should hear about the last time it happened first." I got up and poured myself a cup of coffee now it was done brewing, and even added some extra sweetener, this conversation certainly called for it. "When I was five, I was playing and didn't realize that I was humming to myself, not until one of the neighbor's kids was suddenly
