to voicemail and I frown. I don’t even make it to my room, instead, I’m standing next to the doorway.
I find another name in my phone. “Where is she?” I demand.
“Nice greeting,” Coyote grumbles.
“She turned the phone off, where is she?”
There is a moment of silence, then he lets out a sigh. “I haven’t seen her tonight. Saw her today, earlier. She was outside, lounging in her bikini, in a fucking kiddie pool talking to Della.”
“Fuck,” I clip. “Go look for her, tell her to call me. I want to talk to her tonight,” I demand.
“Will do, brother.”
Della told her about the baby, without a doubt. Then she called me, heard that bitch calling out my name. I’ve been avoiding her, too lost in my own head, trying to categorize everything. Organize everything, come to terms with the fact that I really fucking like her. More than I’ve ever liked anyone, and it’s odd as shit, especially since I haven’t known her long and I’m already considering making her my Old Lady.
Now she thinks… fuck, I don’t know what she thinks. I need to know, need to make sure she’s secure. Which I promised her I’d do and I’m already goddamn failing.
Fuck.
Chapter Twenty
MOUNTAIN
“What do you mean you can’t find her?” I roar.
There’s a moment of silence and Coyote doesn’t speak, he’s so quiet that I think he’s ended the call, but I know that he wouldn’t. Not on me. I hear him let out a grunt, then a sigh. He groans and my irritation grows by the second.
“I mean, I can’t find her,” he barks. “She’s fuckin’ gone. She was at the bar but now she ain’t in your room, the bar, the clubwhores’ common room, outside. She’s like a goddamn ghost.”
“I’m calling Dragon,” I bark.
Coyote lets out a grunt. “Calm the fuck down, Mountain. I’ll find her.”
This time he does end the call and all I can do is stand in the middle of the gravel parking lot and grip my burner phone in my hand so tightly that it cracks under the pressure. Deciding not to break it, I shove it in my pocket and close my eyes, inhaling a deep breath before I let it out.
“She’s gone,” Eagle says, but he doesn’t pose it as a question, it’s very much a statement. “We’ll get this shit dropped off and get back to Eagar as soon as humanly possible. You want to fly back? I’ll drive the truck.”
Turning slowly, I look over at him, unable to hide the surprise in my features. “Fly back?” I ask.
He nods his head once. “Yeah, you want to get back sooner, I’ll drive home.”
Shaking my head, I am so fucking tempted to take him up on his offer. I don’t. “Nah. Let’s just get this shit there, unloaded, and head home together. No way am I going to leave you hangin’ like that. Coyote will find her.”
Coyote might find her. Maybe. If she hasn’t run away on purpose. If she hasn’t been kidnapped. Either situation, it could be difficult to find her. Leighton knows how to live without leaving a digital footprint. She’s done it before, and I have no doubt that she can do it again.
I fucked up.
I really fucked up.
Lifting my hand, I run my fingers through my hair. I’ll never sleep tonight, but I’m too tired to drive.
“Let’s rest a few hours, then we’ll head out,” Eagle suggests.
Closing my eyes, I open them slowly with a nod. “Yeah.”
Turning from him, I head back inside the loud clubhouse and straight to my room for the night. When I flip the light on, I lift my head and stop at the sight on my bed. There is the girl from earlier, completely stripped down, her legs spread wide and a smile on her face.
“The fuck,” I whisper.
She laughs. “Exactly. Come, fuck,” she coos. “You left me wanting and nobody leaves me wanting. Not ever.”
Shaking my head, I take a step toward her as rage fills me and flows through my veins. Granted, I know without a doubt that it’s my fault Leighton is pissed off at me, but another part of me knows that this bitch didn’t fucking help my case.
“You better get your skinny naked ass outta my sight. I am one second from losing my fucking cool, bitch,” I spit.
She doesn’t do what I warn her to do. Instead, she shifts to her knees, the piercings on her tits winking in the light, drawing my attention to them for
