The Tracker Hive Academy Year One - Avery Song Page 0,67
job at lowering their voices to hide their pure shock, but I stood there patiently, waiting for them to wrap this all up so I could go back to partying.
They didn't have any information for me.
"Anything else?" I asked. "I should go back before my sister starts to worry."
"Just tell her hands off. She can't have all four of the Maxwell brothers," Marlena snarled.
"What if they all want her?" I asked.
The four girls gawked at my question, but I wasn't going to linger any longer. I seriously needed to continue my investigation. I also didn't want to worry Zeke.
Tracker Protocol was to always keep time away from your partner short. The longer you were away, the more dangerous it became on a mission without a clear map of one another's location.
"Just a thought to keep in mind. Time to go kill stuff. Kill. Kill. Kill," I began to sing, turning around and heading for the door. Ending my comment with Shadow Jade's signature Kill song would ensure they didn't lob any snarky or unnecessary comments my way.
When I was able to leave without further confrontation, my assumption was proven correct. Walking down the hall back to the main chilling area, I noticed it was a lot more crowded. It didn't bother me, but it would make it a pain to find Zeke.
Deciding to head to the third floor, I turned my head in time to notice the familiar silver hairstyle. Freezing in place, I stared in that direction, wondering if my eyes were deceiving me.
Without thinking, my body moved on its own, maneuvering its way through the crowd as I kept my eyes locked onto the person. I couldn't see their exact body shape or get a true view of their height, but my heart was racing, and my elements were all pouncing for the chance to strike.
My approach was like a predator, ready to catch its prey. Slow, but calculative, which was exactly what I needed.
A guy stepped in front of me, stopping me in my tracks. I looked up to see his seductive grin, and he quickly fixed his short hair to try and make himself look more attractive.
"Hey, baby. You want a good time?"
I returned his look with a sweet one. "I don't think you can handle me."
Walking around him to get a view of the familiar person, I frowned when his figure was nowhere to be found.
Shit.
"Hmm. Unattractive boy interfered. Kill."
That made me smile, though deep down I was fighting the bubbles of disappointment. I needed to know if he was real.
And if he wasn't, that meant I was seeing things, which meant my hallucinations were back.
The thought of even taking those pills again made me cringe, hating the judgment that followed with anything that labeled me as having mental issues.
Until mental health issues were deemed an acceptable illness anyone could experience and endure, I didn't want anyone finding out about that.
Especially when this academy thing was like an assignment. These people are only here to gossip and watch. Any sign of weakness would put our cover on the line if we want to learn what's going on around here and remain as bait.
A hand landed on my shoulder and I flicked it away without hesitation. Turning around, I was staring back at the guy who had gotten in my way.
"I could totally handle you, sexy. You'd look good riding all of this." He dramatically gestured to his buff chest, slim waist, and skinny legs. "If you know what I mean."
"From how skinny your legs are, I bet you do more upper body work than lower. If you're going to weight lift, you should even it out, or you’ll really become out of proportion," I explained.
My answer threw him off his game, but I proceeded.
"Skimping on your leg workouts tells me your focus is only on specific areas that can grab attention easily rather than your entire body. That leaves me to wonder if your focus on your chest growth is to make people think you have a big cock," I theorized, the conversation only making this guy even more visibly uncomfortable.
"You won't know if you don't try," he offered, not sounding as confident as before.
"Your lack of confidence tells me I'll surely be disappointed."
My body tingled suddenly, seconds before an arm slid around my waist.
"There's my baby."
I glanced over my shoulder to see Zeke. His eyes met mine, and something flashed between us. He kept his smooth expression, but he definitely realized something was off.
