The Tracker Hive Academy Year One - Avery Song Page 0,68

down to give me a kiss, he moved his attention to the guy in front of us.

"What's up?" he questioned.

"Oh, you’re um...Zeke, right? Yeah, the guest list said you were coming, along with the rest of the female population," he commented nervously.

"Do you have any business with my girlfriend, or can we move on? Some people are waiting for us on the third floor," Zeke pressed, sounding impatient.

"No, no. Not at all." The guy shook his head in denial.

"Cool." Zeke wrapped an arm securely over my shoulder. "We'll be ditching, then."

Turning around, we moved through the crowd to the stairs. Making our way to the third floor, we observed the area first, before making our way to the open bar.

Zeke ordered for the two of us, getting a beer for himself and a strawberry daiquiri for me. We were silent as we waited, but Zeke's hand was on my left leg, his finger running circles in a slow movement as if to calm me down.

I wondered if he could tell I was feeling a bit off. I also debated whether or not to tell him about what I'd seen. If it was an illusion, I was worried to admit that I was having them again.

It could screw up this dating thing. No one wants to date a literal crazy person.

"Not crazy. Special," Shadow Jade whispered.

I was surprised she was still present and not starting her marathon.

Thanks, Shadow Jade. You can go watch your marathon now. Zeke's here. I'll be perfectly fine.

I felt her hesitancy, but she knew that I could handle myself and wouldn't hesitate to summon my dark power if I needed it.

"Okay. Love you. Kill time. Bye."

Bye.

She was officially gone, but a bit of the dark energy was still tingling from Zeke's touch. Our drinks came shortly after, and we moved from the bar to a quiet sitting area. There was one empty chair left that faced the balcony.

We moved to sit, Zeke settling down first and patting his lap for me to sit. Without hesitation, I positioned myself in his lap, his arm hooking around my waist while I rested against him with my drink in hand.

Taking a sip, I needed a second to take in the mixed taste of strawberries and strong vodka.

"Sweet but strong," I acknowledged. "Not bad."

"What's wrong?" Zeke got straight to the point, not even taking a gulp of his beer. I looked into his eyes hesitantly, unsure what to say.

"What made you uncomfortable?" He reworded his question.

"Nothing, really." I tried to sound like I normally did, but Zeke wasn't buying it. His eyes darkened a shade, making the silver rings around his irises pop out even more.

"Jade." His voice was ice cold, and the presence of his magic was making me lose my train of thought. His hand slid into my hair, steadying my head as he immediately kissed me.

My body relaxed, and I let him comfort me with his affection. It intrigued me how the mere sight of those familiar silver strands of hair and tall, slim figure were enough to make me question all the hard work I'd done during those years of therapy and desensitization.

I knew that man's dark secret, but it would all come down to whether I was strong enough to face it yet.

"You're not ready to talk about it," he whispered.

I nodded. His eyes portrayed his understanding and he leaned back into the chair, his hand still running through my curls and making them looser.

"Whatever made you worried is gone?" he inquired.

"Yes," I whispered, taking another sip of my drink. His finger was making a circle along my thigh again.

"You want to leave?"

"Not yet," I admitted. "I want to dance a bit after this."

"Okay." Zeke grinned. "Was the washroom beneficial?"

"I got warned to stay away from your brothers," I purred. He smirked and took a chug of his beer. "Did you now?"

"Mhm. Zeus is on little Sallie Walker's radar, while Zackery's on some Marlena’s watch. She was the chick confronting me in the washroom. They thought I was Shadow Jade, though. I did say we were dating."

"Really?" he smirked, looking pleased by the news.

"I did. I said that Shadow Jade wasn't interested in any of you," I elaborated.

"What about Zion?"

"He has multiple girls crushing on him." I winked. "Needless to say, they told me to back off. I can't have all four of you."

"And you answered?"

"What if you guys all wanted me?" I repeated the statement.

"Finishing blow," Zeke dramatically stated. "Fatality!"

I began to giggle, feeling more
