and looked at Calvin. "You as well, Calvin."

“B-But sure. I'm the victim here. Jade saved me!"

"I had no intention of saving you," I admitted, sliding my hands in my pockets yet again. "I just wanted to piss Professor Asshole off."

A few people snickered, while Calvin gawked at me. "Do you have some loose screws up there? He's the professor! He can fail you! Expel you!"

"I'm not sure. I’ve had a brain scan and it appeared pretty good to me. As for him being a professor, I couldn’t care less. His job title means nothing to me. In fact, I've done a good deed. We can all go home." I complimented my own actions. "And he can't fail me."

I looked back into his raging eyes when I said it, twirling around to face the opposite direction.

With that, I began to walk away. "I'll be taking a nap in the office. See you, Professor Asshole."

"Forty-five minutes!" Shadow Jade cheered.

Oh right. We were supposed to last twelve hours before causing trouble. Well...that failed. Maybe we can say it’s that giant guy's fault.

"Broke picture! Kill."

Yup. Let's use that as an excuse.

Turning the corner, I began to skip back, a little excited for what was to come.

All eyes on me? Check. Time to start tracking down our button pusher.

The Troubled Four

"Tanner is pissed off," Bianca concluded after she closed the office door.

I had to fight not to giggle, feeling complete accomplishment.

"Did you see the look on his face?" I emphasized. "I'm so glad Alaric's my dad. I swear, if it were Tanner he would have beat me right there and then."

Bianca walked over to the desk, sitting down in the black chair and crossing her legs. "You did that on purpose."

"I'm glad you're catching on and using your enhanced intelligence, unlike Tanner, who's spending all his hot air on whining to Alaric. I'm sure Dad knows what my intentions are," I voiced, relaxing in the seat. "Besides, that giant guy was a blockhead. If he hadn’t tried to hit me with a rock, I wouldn't have ruined my "be good" streak."

"You have no intention of trying to fit in, do you?"

"I apparently have grey hair instead of black hair with white streaks. You really think I can fit in?" I presented. Bianca sighed and sat up, a firm look on her face.

I waited for her to lecture me, but there was a knock on the door a second later. "Professor Sky?"

"Yes?" Bianca answered in a monotone voice.

The secretary was the one to open the door, poking her head to look between us. "Sorry to interrupt, but the newly enrolled students are here. The Maxwell’s."

"Ah. I forgot they were arriving today. All right. Let me wrap this up. Can you retrieve Alaric for me? I might as well combine the rest of the tour with the new students and Ms. Masters. He'll only have to give his speech once."

"Certainly." The secretary bowed her head in understanding, closing the door once more. We both waited to hear another door close before we carried on with our conversation.

"More new students?" I questioned.

"It was a special request from Alaric," Bianca whispered.

"Why?"

"You'll see when you meet them. They'll like you."

I laughed. "Bianca. No one likes me."

"I like you."

"You're technically like a mom to me. That doesn't count," I whispered with a tiny smile. She rose up and walked over to sit on the desk, her gaze softening as she stared at me.

"I know this is going to be a weird change for you, and though you hide it well, I can tell you're worried."

"I'm that easy to read? Tanner never sees it," I huffed.

Bianca giggled. "Tanner notices. It just takes him a little longer to figure it out."

"The school itself isn't weird, but the students surely are. I did spot a few powerful ones, but Tanner's class was generally soft. What's with the nerd?"

"Calvin? He's a special case."

"How is he a fire user? The amount of magic in him is almost non-existent," I commented.

"It's hard to explain with so little time. We'll get into the details later, or I'm sure you'll find out soon enough." Bianca reached out and stroked my cheek. "I'm not sure what exactly you're thinking about when it comes to attending this school, but be careful. Alaric, Tanner, and I can't do as much in our roles here as we would at home."

"All right," I replied. "I'll try not to break too many rules at once."

"It's sad that your answer actually brings me relief." Bianca shook
