The Tracker Hive Academy Year One - Avery Song Page 0,27
happen. I also noticed that the teacher was Tanner.
When our eyes locked, I couldn't help but grin, noticing the irritation flood his eyes. I bet he was mentally cursing to himself, knowing I was about to intervene.
Time to help the nerd boy and gain some enemies.
"Picture! Kill!"
Right, right. Get revenge for your picture.
With my hands in my pockets, I practically skipped over to the nerd, whose orange eyes met mine. He appeared surprised to see me, having not noticed me prior to this moment.
Standing between him and the oversized dude, I crouched down to get a better look at him.
"Have to admit, you do look pretty smart," I noted. "What's your main element?"
"Uh..." He stared at me for two blinks. "Fire."
"You're pretty weak for a fire user," I confessed, quickly assessing him. My fire element could barely pick up a spark in him. He'd be squished by this dude in a second.
"I-I'm working on it. That's why I'm here," he stuttered.
"Oh." I rose back up. "In that case, guess you can't die. How disappointing."
"Who are you?" the guy asked.
"Jade. What's up?" I lifted my head in greeting.
"Shouldn't you get out of the way?"
"What's your name?" I asked, ignoring his question. I wasn't stupid. I was fully aware of and purposely ignoring the giant behind me.
"C-Calvin," he replied nervously, his eyes darting back and forth.
"Nerdy name, but decent enough. Calvin, today's your lucky day. I'm in an energy spending mood. Plus, I'm exacting revenge at the moment."
"Revenge? For what?"
"The painting," I answered, turning to face the tall guy. I leaned over to one side, pointing to the exact place where the picture was. "There was a picture right there. I really liked it. Now it's destroyed."
"Uh. That's the third time it has been destroyed," Calvin admitted. "They have a few spares. This happens commonly."
"Oh," I replied.
"Oh," Shadow Jade copied. "No kill."
You changed your mind quickly this time.
"Is that so? Then I don't have anything to take revenge for. All right, see ya." I waved goodbye and began to walk in the direction that Bianca had gone, which I assumed was back to the office.
"W-wait?! Where are you going?!"
I stopped and looked back at Calvin, who rushed over and hid behind me. "Y-You have to protect me!"
"Why?" I bluntly asked. "You're a guy. Do it yourself."
"Weren't you going to be all heroic and save me?"
"No," I honestly replied. “I was just getting revenge for the painting. Who cares about you?"
He looked stunned by my response, but I was being honest here. He was no use to me now that Shadow Jade didn't care what happened.
Lifting my hand up, I stopped the rock that was aimed to slam into my head, slowly looking over to the guy who'd shot it at me.
"Who's this bitch?! You fucking interrupt me, grab all the spotlight, and now want to run away like a coward?!"
I twirled around on one leg and slipped my hands back into my pockets, the rock falling to the ground.
"I already introduced myself. Are you deaf or do you have a non-existent attention span?" I questioned.
"Fucking cunt! I'll teach you a lesson for even interrupting me!"
I cracked my neck. "Professor Asshole," I called out to Tanner. Everyone turned their attention to him, causing his whole face to burn a bright red.
"Don't call me that, Ms. Masters," he snarled.
"But you responded," I acknowledged. "Aside from that minor detail, is that your classroom for today?"
"Yes," he replied.
"From my view, I don't think you can teach for the rest of the day," I concluded.
"Why not? I've taught with a broken wall before, Ms. Masters," he grumbled.
"That's not what I was referring to," I replied.
With one step I was standing next to the giant's left side, surprising him with my sudden movement.
"Wh—"
I personally felt bad for the guy, but the sudden spike of enjoyment that came from seeing his and the rest of the students’ shock was enough for me to hip check him.
Half a second later he was crashing through the wall of the other side of the classroom, along with whomever was in his pathway. Only three students had fast enough reflexes to move out of the way on time.
"Oops? Guess class can't possibly continue under these conditions," I announced. "Anyone else have an issue with the nerd named Calvin?"
The crickets from the courtyard down the hall could be heard from here.
"That's a no? Cool." Looking at Tanner, I grinned. "It's too early for class, anyway."
Tanner groaned. "Ms. Masters. To the office. Now," he growled
