been able to find her first?
The ebony haired beauty quickly moved past John and Patrick. As she sat down in a leather chair perpendicular to Benito, she watched Patrick storm off toward the bar and John down a full glass of whiskey that sat on the table. Her emerald eyes watched the British billionaire fight to control his emotions. Gillian ached to comfort him but figured that she would just make things worse, particularly if she was the cause of the fight.
"So, tell me, Gillian," Benito began, trying to gain her attention. He hated the pain he saw in her beautiful green eyes. "I know you're a doctor, but do you enjoy it?"
The absurd question had Gillian's eyes darting to the Italian. "Of course, I enjoy it. I can't even begin to explain the feeling I get from helping others in need."
"You don't do it for the money?" Benito asked with a chuckle as she narrowed her eyes at him. "Forgive me if I doubt your altruism, sweetheart. I've never met a woman who hasn't had a hidden agenda behind her good deeds."
"Well, then let me be the first," Gillian replied as she crossed her legs and took a sip of her champagne. She then watched Patrick walk back over and take a seat beside John on the couch. The Irishman passed the Brit a glass of bright amber liquid, and the two clinked their glasses before downing it. That little gesture was clearly the two men ending their argument. With a sigh of relief, her eyes then found Benito's again. "You know, there are good women on this planet, Benito. I'm sorry you have such a low opinion of us. Don't get me wrong; we all need money to survive, but I don't do it for the money. There are plenty of times that I have worked for free."
The Italian man laughed loudly. "No one works for free, darling. I know you're beautiful, but I thought you were also intelligent."
"I'm both, asshole!" Gillian replied indignantly, straightening her back in anger as Benito cocked a brow. "Haven't you ever heard of charity? Not all of us have grown up in a wealthy family. This may likely change your opinion of me, but I have been poor and destitute at one point in my life. Just so you know, being poor doesn't change the fact that you're a human being. No one knows this, but twice a month, I volunteer my services to the homeless. I get no money from these folks, but I do get to help them. Where they come from or who they are doesn't matter. I would hope that if you lose your money one day, Benito, someone gives you the same courtesy."
John sat and listened to his angry little kitten tear into Benito. He glanced at Patrick, who was rolling his turquoise eyes. John was still thinking about his conversation with the Irishman from a moment ago. Patrick acted as if he wasn't affected by Gillian, but John knew he was. Despite his mate's words, Gillian Morgan was unlike any woman on the planet. There seemed to be no pretense with the American, and the chemistry between them was insane. Gillian sat there, half the size of Benito, giving the Italian hell. She knew Benito was a member of the underworld and a killer, but she showed absolutely no fear. John had no idea that Gillian volunteered with the homeless, but somehow, he wasn't surprised. It actually made him want her even more if that was possible. The British billionaire clearly felt conflicted with his feelings about Gillian, and Patrick wasn't making it easier.
At that moment, a gorgeous, tall woman walked up to their small party. The woman was dressed in a low cut, sexy, black cat suit that molded to every perfect curve on her body. Her black hair hung in waves down her back and her makeup was dark and sultry. She immediately took a seat beside John and wrapped her arms around his neck. "Mmm, baby," Pandora cooed, rubbing her breasts against the Brit. "You look good enough to eat this evening. Mind if I have a taste?"
John pushed the woman off his arm as his eyes found Gillian's. His Greek mistress actually made his skin crawl, and it had been that way since meeting Gillian. Curious to see what the American would do, he glanced at Pandora and said, "You look nice this evening, Pandi. Are you enjoying the party?"
"I always enjoy
