Rage (Her Monsters Book One) - K.A Knight Page 0,128

you can blink.” She steps closer to us both and we step back at the menace on her face. “That’s a fucking promise,” she grits out, before storming between us, knocking us apart, and stomping up the stairs, muttering under her breath.

Both Griffin and I watch her go before looking at each other, properly chastised like children. Gripping the blade still protruding from my stomach, I yank it out and pass it over to him. He nods, accepts it, and wipes my blood on his shirt before sheathing it.

“She did not get hurt at the meeting?” I ask, my anger deflating as I change back. My clothes hanging in tatters on me.

“No,” he answers simply, and I look at the stairs she went up.

“Then I owe you an apology, Fallen.” I clasp his shoulder and he looks at me like I am crazy. “I should not have attacked you and I won’t do it again unless you betray or hurt us. No matter her warning.” With that I start upstairs, already planning my grovelling in my head.

“We need to speak about what we found out tonight,” he calls up and I nod.

“After, let me calm our mate down before she decides to kill us both or tie us up in a sex dungeon,” I joke and he laughs.

“I wouldn’t be opposed to that,” he retorts.

Me either.

Cracking open our bedroom door, I peer inside to find Dawn pacing back and forth. I wince and hedge inside of the room. “Little Monster?” I murmur, and her head swivels to me, her eyes black as she advances on me.

Slipping fully inside, I shut the door and wait.

She stops meters away from me, her lips pursed in anger. “Do not ‘Little Monster’ me,” she snaps.

I grin, unable to help myself. She is so breathtaking in her anger. “I am sorry, Little Monster, I should have waited and listened before attacking Griffin,” I say calmly.

She throws her hands in the air. “Or not attacked him at all!” she yells.

I sigh. “Little Monster, we are not always going to get along. We are both strong, powerful supernaturals and we are going to butt heads and fight. It is how we get out our aggression and anger towards each other. I promise you after we will be fine with each other. But I can’t promise it won’t happen again, because it will.”

She shakes her head, resuming her pacing. “Fucking men,” she spits before looking at me, her eyes dropping to the wound on my stomach. “Are you okay?” she asks, deflating a bit.

I nod but she strides over, pushing away the tattered t-shirt so she can see the blood on my skin. When she wipes it away and finds a closed pink line, which will disappear to shortly, she nods and steps back, ignoring me again.

“Dawn,” I demand and she stops, keeping her back to me with her arms wrapped around herself. Winding my arms around her, I place my head on hers. “I am sorry, I am, but I am new to this mate business and I worry. I found out some hard information and I thought I was too late, I thought I had lost you. I was so fucking worried, going out of my mind, and you come in covered in blood...” Kissing her hair, I hold her tighter.

She sighs, relaxing into my arms before turning and peering up at me, her eyes back to normal again. “Fine,” she grumbles, her hands landing on my chest and stroking like she can’t help herself. “I’m still not happy about the whole pinning to a wall and stabbing thing,” she mutters and I grin.

Leaning down, I bend my head and kiss her gently. “I was so worried, Little Monster,” I admit, speaking my fears out loud. She kisses me again and smiles softly. “Haven’t you learned by now?”

“Learned what?” I repeat, confused.

She laughs. “I don’t stay dead, even if they manage to kill me.” I laugh with her before kissing her again, assuring myself she is here in my arms.

“Come on, we better talk about what we found,” she says, and twines our hands together and leads me downstairs.

I can’t seem to stop myself from touching her, needing to know that she is here with me. When we get downstairs we find a blank-faced Griffin sitting at the table, but at the seat next to him is a cup of coffee and what looks like cookies. Obviously a peace offering for her. I snort, I can’t
