Rage (Her Monsters Book One) - K.A Knight Page 0,129
help it.
She throws him a glare but grabs them and sits back on my lap when I sit down.
“Sorry?” he offers, the statement more of a question.
“Oh, you will be, don’t you worry, Fallen,” she purrs, and he cracks a grin.
He sits back in his chair, his gaze going serious again. “What did you find?” he asks, and I wrap my arms tighter around Dawn, then my mouth opens and the whole story pours out.
“Well, shit,” I splutter, and Griffin nods his agreement.
“If fae are going missing, you can bet that other supes are as well. This is so much bigger than just selling women when they find out they aren’t human. They are targeting supe women, why?” he ponders.
“That’s the question, isn’t it,” I reply, and Nos kisses my cheek.
“I agreed to go back and meet with them with Dawn. Also, I told them I would use my contacts to speak to other supernatural races and clans to check in on them. I’m impartial, so they should agree to meet me,” he explains.
“We still need to find Victor and meet with him, find out what he knows, and also deal with Tim,” I lament, and they both frown harder.
Picking at the cookies before me, I think through the problems ahead of us. Understandably, supes disappearing takes precedence, but with so much going on...
“Okay, Nos. Talk to your contacts, arrange meetings and dig as much as you can on the phone. It should give us some time,” I muse out loud.
“Time for what?” Griffin asks.
“We have too many balls in the air,” I mutter, staring at the paperwork before rubbing my head. “Okay, so let’s take some out of the air. First, we need to meet with this Victor. Offer him a deal. He will want to know who in his organisation has been stealing from him, we can ask for the information we need, and if he’s looking as well... we are covering more bases. Then, once we have dealt with Tim and Victor, we turn our attention to these Others. We can meet with other races, see what the fae have found, and figure out who they are and stop them.”
“How do we find Victor though?” Griffin inquires.
Thinking, I search the table for an answer before I laugh. “Tim, of course. He used to go to this fucking stupid ass club every week and I never could figure out why. We go there, ask around for Victor, we’ll find him.”
“And Tim?” Nos questions, and I grin.
“Let me deal with that.” I laugh, as a plan forms in my head. My plans have changed since I’ve met Nos and Griffin, but I still plan to make the bastard pay. I just have to solve these disappearances as well.
“It’s the best plan we have,” Nos comments, and Griffin nods.
“I don’t like just wandering around, but it’s the best option at the moment. Okay, we’ll go tonight,” Griffin suggests. “Victor, Tim, The Others, and now the fae,” he mutters, shaking his head.
“You’re right, it’s the best plan we have so far. Nos, start contacting them today, Griffin and I will search through the paperwork, surveillance, and everything we have to see if we can find any more information on the men who are snatching supes, and Victor as well.”
They both agree but Nos freezes. “What happened at the meeting? You glossed over it,” he asks and he’s right, his information from the fae took us by surprise and we didn’t really outline what had happened last night. Shit, we really do have too much on our plate.
“Turns out that The Others are supes,” Griffin snarls, and I pat Nos’ arms when they tighten.
“More than that, powerful too. The man was old and decrepit when I first met him, but once he caught on to me he changed to a younger man. The bodyguards that were with him were all wearing a glowing pendant,” I recall.
“He changed?” Nos repeats.
“Yep, like a younger version of the man, why?” I drawl, when they look between each other.
“For him to do that, he would have to be a skinwalker or...” Griffin trails off.
“Or?” I demand.
“Or witches are helping,” Nos snarls.
“Okay, what’s the deal with witches, why do you look so pissed?” I ask, confused.
“Witches are evil. Don’t think Sabrina, think hellspawn. They gain their power by taking it from others, and they live on sacrifices and blood spells. They are truly fucking evil. They think they are above everyone, so for them to be working
