him, he cupped her face and found her lips with his own. They remained like that, lips gliding, tongues melding, hands roaming.
This was perfection for him. Bristol in his bed, his brother behind her. The three of them together. Almost didn’t matter that it wasn’t his house, wasn’t his bed.
He’d never truly understood why this was what he was looking for but it felt right. He felt complete in that moment, never wanted it to end, although he knew it would have to come morning. The sun would rise, the day would begin, and life would get back to normal. It was unfortunate that time was a measurement of all things, but he knew that it didn’t matter that he’d fallen in love with her so quickly.
The difficult part was going to be in getting Bristol to see that this wasn’t something that should be hidden from the world.
Kaden didn’t want to live in the dark, didn’t want to hide what they had. He wanted everyone to know how lucky they were to have this woman, to love her, to cherish her.
But he’d sensed it tonight almost from the moment he’d stepped in the door.
Bristol was going to make this about sex. In doing so, she could purposely keep the deeper feelings out of the relationship.
Or so she thought.
Bristol moaned softly, her hand sliding over his chest, her nails digging in as a sigh escaped her.
It was then he felt the mattress rocking, knew Keegan had moved up behind her.
Kaden thumbed her pebbled nipple, sucked on her tongue. She was turned on, her breaths becoming more labored.
“Oh, God, yes,” she moaned, her knee rising as she lifted her leg.
Kaden kissed her again, keeping her close while Keegan slid inside her from behind. The two of them kept her there while Keegan loved her intimately, their bodies rocking, Bristol’s against his.
Yes, this was what Kaden wanted. He wanted Bristol right there between them every night for the rest of their lives.
Pulling his mouth from hers, he watched Bristol’s face in the darkened room, the way her eyes closed, her mouth opening on a moan. He peered at his brother over her shoulder. Blue-gray eyes identical to his own opened, staring back at him, and Kaden could see it there, too. They were on the same wavelength in that moment. What Keegan felt, Kaden felt and vice versa.
This.
This was what they’d dreamed about for a lifetime. Another chance for a happily ever after.
If only he could ensure the two of them didn’t jump the gun, didn’t send Bristol into a panic, perhaps everything would work out the way it was meant to.
Chapter Twenty
“It’s one thing for you to sneak outta the house before we can even say goodbye, but it’s somethin’ else entirely when you don’t come home.”
Travis looked up from his computer, watched as Kylie strolled into his office, her eyes bright with what he assumed was anger. If her tone was anything to go by, she was certainly pissed.
“I don’t sneak,” he told her, turning his attention back to the computer. “And how the hell do you know I didn’t come home last night?”
“Because I waited for you, dammit!”
Okay. He hadn’t expected that.
Truth was, Travis was starting to feel like he was on the outside looking in. And it was true, last night he hadn’t gone home. Instead, he’d snagged one of the empty rooms, caught a few hours of sleep so he wouldn’t risk waking the kids when he came in. It had happened earlier in the week, and he’d spent what few hours he could’ve slept trying to get Maddox settled.
“Travis.”
Releasing a frustrated breath, he sat back in his chair, closed the laptop lid, and ignored the report he’d gotten from Jessica James that morning. The instant it had come in, his heart had skipped a beat. She had an unconfirmed sighting of Juliet Prince somewhere in California. Nothing that would warrant him hopping on his private jet and heading out, but more than he’d gotten in months now.
“This has to stop,” Kylie said firmly.
“What might this be?” he prompted, watching her closely. “You gonna waltz in here and tell me I’m obsessed, too?”
Kylie didn’t respond, but she didn’t have to. He saw the answer in her eyes. For the past couple of weeks, Kylie had been walking on eggshells around him, no doubt on edge after getting an earful from Gage. She thought he was acting crazy, too.
There was no denying that cut deep. As deep as
