you.”
“In your bed?” I raise a brow.
“In my home.” He picks up the bag and shoves the garbage into it, then grabs his container.
“In that case, I’ll have another glass.” I get up before he can tell me to stay put, and then I grab my container and follow him to the kitchen. He pours me another glass as I put our leftovers in the fridge. When we get back to the room, he shuts off the overhead light and closes the door, turning the room almost pitch black. I take a sip as he pulls back the covers, then set the glass on the side table as he lies down. I get in with him and lay my head on his chest as I watch him press play on the remote.
Not even two minutes later, I hear him snore softly, and I smile. I guess he wasn’t lying when he said he was exhausted. When his hand on my hip tightens, I tip my head back and study his sleeping face for a moment, and then I curl myself deeper against his side. Before I know it, my eyes drift closed and I fall asleep, feeling safer and more content than I ever have in my life.

CALVIN
I wake when the bed shifts and instinctively reach out, grasping Anna’s wrist before she can get away. “Where are you going?”
“The bathroom,” she whispers.
I release her, roll the opposite direction, and sit up on the side of the bed as she goes into the bathroom. After flipping on my bedside lamp, I pick up the remote for the TV, turn it off, and then tap the screen of my cell to check the time. It’s just after two, so I scrub my hands down my face, push up off the bed, and then open the door to the bathroom.
“Oh my God, I’m peeing here!” Anna squeaks from the toilet, and I look at her over my shoulder.
“I’m going to brush my teeth.”
“Can you wait until I’m done in here?”
“I won’t watch.” I then turn around to face the mirror, grab my toothbrush from the holder, and load it with paste.
“Seriously?” she asks loudly.
I grin around the brush in my mouth, then turn on the water. “Better?”
“No, it’s not better.” The toilet flushes, and she walks to the second sink and flips it on to wash her hands. Once she’s done, she stomps out of the bathroom and then comes back a second later with her bag over her shoulder.
“You’re not leaving,” I tell her, and she rolls her eyes at me in the mirror as she opens the bag and pulls out her own toothbrush. She starts brushing her teeth, and I decide not to ask her why she’d bring a toothbrush if she didn’t plan on staying.
“Why are you smirking?”
“You’re cute.” I rinse my mouth, then shut off the water. “And even cuter when you’re annoyed.”
“I guess that’s good, since you annoy me all the time.”
“Do I?” I lean back against the counter, crossing my arms over my chest.
“It happens a lot.” She rinses her mouth, then pulls out a package from the bag, takes a wipe out of it, and uses it to take off the little makeup she has on. Once she’s done, she takes some kind of cream out and starts to rub it on her face.
“You sure did bring a lot of stuff to come over and watch a movie.”
“Annoying.” She glares at me out of the corner of her eye.
“What else do you have in there?” I reach over and try to peek in the bag, but she pulls it away before I can.
“Clothes for tomorrow,” she says, still glaring, and I laugh. “I’m going back to bed.” She brushes by me and heads back into the bedroom.
“That sounds like a great idea.” I take off my shirt and start to kick off my pants.
“What are you doing?”
“Getting undressed.” I look at her.
“Oh.”
“Do you normally wear so much to bed?”
“No, not normally.” She tugs at the end of her shirt.
“Feel free to get comfortable.” I walk around to the opposite side of the bed from her.
She looks unsure for a moment, then strips off her pants and starts to lift her shirt, exposing her stomach and showing the lace of her panties, before dropping it back in place.
“Tease.”
She laughs as I flip off the light, casting the room in darkness. I get into bed and reach across the distance between us,
