Her Unexpected Admirer Page 0,43
he quickly got his amusement under control. Well, almost. He was just too relieved at her jealousy and all that it indicated. “I’m laughing because your jealousy is completely misplaced.” A moment later, his arm was wrapped around her waist and he was lifting her up against his hard body, enjoying her feeble struggles to get free. “I think you misunderstand about Ella, Kate. She’s not…”
“I haven’t misunderstood anything. You’re in love with one woman and seducing another. There are names for men like that.”
He was having a hard time controlling his body’s reaction to her so he lifted her higher, trying to get control of the situation. But he was so relieved in the face of her anger he could barely talk through his laughter. Besides, the idea of anyone being jealous of Ella was crazy. Ella was going to be a beautiful woman someday but she was in high school. “Ella is my niece, Kate,” he said softly, bending down and kissing her neck. He knew the moment his words sunk into her brain and he took advantage of her frozen body. His hand moved lower, covering her bottom in the annoying, polyester skirt. “You need different clothes, by the way.”
Kate moaned, trying to pull back from his lips but they just felt too good. “Don’t do this, Davis. I can’t be with a man who is in love with…” she stopped and opened her eyes. “Your niece?” she demanded. “You were talking with your niece last night?”
He didn’t lift his head up, but simply moved to another spot on her neck, yet another spot that sent shivers of delight throughout her body. “And my sister Adriana, Ella’s mom. Adriana is four years older than me so that would make her…” he looked above her head, mentally calculating, “thirty-nine. She’s been very happily married for years and has another child, a boy named Zane who is already trouble but smart as a whip.”
Kate dropped her head until her forehead was resting against his chest. She couldn’t believe she’d made such a fool of herself over Davis’ niece. How ridiculous! She’d jumped to conclusions last night and had worked herself up over nothing.
“Your niece,” she sighed, her hands unconsciously gripping his upper arms. “And she’s thirteen years old.”
“Yep,” he replied, nibbling on her ear now. “So how jealous were you last night?” he asked, wanting to get some sort of feedback on what she was thinking and feeling. Of course, he knew exactly what she was feeling at the moment. Exactly what he was feeling and he was about to burst into flames because of that.
“I wasn’t jealous,” she lied, leaning her head to the side so he could reach her ear better. “Not at all.” She gasped when his teeth nibbled on the spot behind her ear and she felt her hips press against his more firmly and all those crazy sensations deep inside of her perked up again.
“You’re a pretty little liar,” he laughed, biting a bit harder as punishment, but then he soothed the tender area with his mouth, feeling her shiver in reaction. “And you were wearing my shirt last night.”
She pulled back, staring at him. She could look him in the eye at the moment because he was holding her in his arms, her feet dangling below. “I wasn’t!”
He laughed. “You were. I went in to turn off your light and saw you.” His mouth found hers, kissing her hard, his tongue moving into her mouth, demanding entry and, when he got it, he deepened the kiss, not letting her deny it again. No more lies. He was going to figure her out, even if it killed him.
He lowered her feet to the stone flooring once again, but he wouldn’t let her pull away. “Tell me why you were wearing my shirt even if you thought me so low as to make love to you one night and tell another woman I was in love with her the next.”
She shivered again, her body shifting against his. “Just shut up and kiss me,” she said, reaching her hands up to let her fingers dive into his hair, pulling his head back so she could kiss him again. She accepted that she truly loved kissing him, feeling his mouth move against hers. Goodness, she liked it too much!
The knock on the door startled her, jerking her backwards as far as his arms would allow. She looked at the door, then at Davis, wondering what had happened.
