Wrecked (Shadow Sentinels #2) - Karen Tomlinson Page 0,35

riled by the sight and scent of blood and violence.

The big guy threw one of his opponents down and knocked him out with one punch.

I spat blood from my mouth and snarled at the guards. Fine. This alpha arsehole wasn’t getting the better of me. I launched myself at him. He charged at me with a bellow that was a definite war cry. I darted sideways, pressed my foot to one of the walls and launched myself up and over him. As I landed, I thrust a kick into his kidneys and he sailed forward, hit the wall and fell to the floor.

A massive roar vibrated through the air, and an almighty blast of power hit us all. Everyone stilled, most dropping to their knees, others bowing their heads and shoulders as if unable to keep them up. The north alpha’s body was plucked from the floor.

I forced myself to fight the oppressive power that demanded I drop to my knees. Instead, I set my jaw defiantly and lifted my gaze.

Connor’s black eyes held mine. His gaze narrowed but remained on me as he spoke to the alpha who he held around the throat with one large hand. “This stops, right now.” There was no explanation. It was not a request. The message was clear. Connor squeezed to make a point. Slowly, he looked at the north alpha, his fingers gripping until the male’s face turned bright red. He watched the man struggle for a moment then set him back on his feet. “Owen.” It was a command.

“Everyone, get out!” Owen, instructed. They did. Some even ran. I didn’t blame them. Being faced with seven alpha’s, one of whom was their Prime, was not something to relish.

“Not you lot.” A new face growled at the north alpha’s males.

“Or you,” Korea said to the large guy from the plane.

Connor eyed me and then Shannon, who was just pushing herself up into a sitting position. I suspected I looked as rough as she did. And my ribs hurt like a bitch.

I snorted as Connor released the alpha’s neck. “You’re going to let him go after attacking your girlfriend?” Derision dripped from my words. Connor’s brows knitted at my tone. I didn’t care. Allowing these kinds of attacks was not acceptable. I strode over to Shannon and helped her up. “You okay?”

She swallowed, her eyelids fluttering and her fingers feeling her skin. It was clearly painful, but she nodded. I stood in front of her, blocking the others and looked down at her open jeans meaningfully. She flushed and fumbled to do them up.

“Females are fair game in gen pop, Prime.” The north alpha puffed his chest out and scowled at me and Shannon.

My wolf stirred, but I merely stood in front of Shannon as she straightened her clothes.

“Neither of them are marked. They are mine to use.”

Okay, now he was pissing me off! My eyes drifted to Shannon’s neck. She might be Connor’s latest piece of ass, but he still hadn’t marked her to keep her safe. She looked me in the eye.

“No one owns me,” she said quietly.

I nodded. I understood her sentiments, if not her reasons. She shouldn’t need to belong to a pack in order to be safe.

Her eyes widened as someone walked up to my back. I met Shannon’s gaze and smirked. I’d been waiting. It seemed Connor wasn’t going to refute the alpha’s right to ‘use’ us. I rolled my shoulders and tried to ignore the pain in my ribs. Now we were surrounded by more dangerous and egotistical males, this was a fight we wouldn’t win. I huffed out a small breath of acceptance. Well, I’d inflict enough pain on this entitled prick that he wouldn’t be able to get it up even if we lost this fight. I spun and drove a ridge hand strike into his junk. The north alpha squealed and dropped to his knees. Without hesitation, I slammed my fist into his jaw—twice. He went down. Out cold.

Silence fell.

“Feel better?” Connor’s voice was raspy and deep. Blue bled into his obsidian eyes giving them a hypnotic marble effect.

I ignored the question. Was he serious? “If you’re the Prime, why do you allow this to happen?” I didn’t unclench my fists.

His face didn’t change, but his wolf’s anger prickled against my skin. “You are still new here, so this will be a warning…”

My patience snapped. “What!? Warning? Are you fucking kidding me? Four males, and an alpha, can attack a woman and that’s
