Worth It - Lisa Oliver Page 0,82

watched, a tall man with Paulie’s nose appeared like a giant hologram in the middle of it, hovering over the mountain range.

How did I not know about a son… but I sense the truth of your words and see the lineage in your soul. I am overcome… My humble greetings to you, Paulie, my beloved unknown son… the name of you and my grandson, Egan Enapay Sthenios, will be written in the winds this day with my blessings so all my kin and yours can rejoice on this happy occasion. Protect them well, Zeus, father of the Greeks… There will come a time when we will meet, my son, you have my word.

The image lingered a moment longer, and then the yellow from the sun’s rays pushed ahead and the night sky turned gray, causing the pinks and blues of the dawn to disappear. Paulie cuddled Egan into his shoulder, turning away from the view. “Did he mean it, do you think?”

Zeus wasn’t surprised by the tears in his mate’s eyes. He was feeling rather emotional himself, and he knew Anpao’s shock and pain, and joy too, would have been felt by gods from many pantheons. It was likely Owen and Baby, and their triplets would be visiting within the hour.

“Time has little meaning to the original gods like your father,” he said, hugging Paulie and his son close. “But he will look for you every day from now on, I’m sure, hoping to catch a glimpse of you and little Egan. He will join us when he’s ready.”

“I didn’t know… I mean, I hoped, and then I wasn’t sure.” Paulie blubbered on Zeus’s chest. “That was really my dad?”

“There’s only one Anpao.” Rubbing his hand up and down Paulie’s back, Zeus said briskly, “How about some breakfast? What do you think? Pancakes, steak, or good old bacon and eggs?”

“Er…” Paulie sniffed and then he lifted Egan off his shoulder and planted him on Zeus’s chest. “I’ll do the food zapping this morning. You need to check our son’s butt.”

“Ha, diaper change. I can do that with a wave of my hand.” Zeus cradled Egan close, wrinkling his nose.

“You need to check his butt,” Paulie said with a giggle, skipping away. “Smelly poops can cause a rash on Egan’s sensitive skin. You can’t check it if you don’t look at it. I’ll be in the kitchen.”

“I thought you loved me,” Zeus protested, eyeing his contented looking son who seemed oblivious to the mess he’d made in his lower regions. “I was prepared to cut off my dick for you.”

“I do love you,” Paulie’s head came back around the door, “but I fed him, so you change him. And for the record, in the past year, you got me, Egan, and you got to keep your dick, and I’m zapping up breakfast.” He disappeared again.

“Yeah, it’s worth it.” Zeus muttered as he wandered into the house, holding Egan closely to his chest. “Even shitty nappies. Totally worth it.”

The End

Lol. There was no denying Zeus was hard work for a lot of this story, but I had hopes it would all work out in the end… and it did. Of course, this isn’t the last of the Gods series books – Ra is very interested in finding a mate of his own, and while Odin didn’t appear in this story, he has been lurking around the edges of my brain. Seth, Ra’s companion also seemed to be in dire need of a mate, but I guess I will find out more about him, when I write Ra’s story.

Like many authors, I’ve struggled to keep writing when life as we knew it seems to be falling apart. But at the same time, it is my writing that keeps me sane, which is an interesting conundrum. I just hope that all of you, regardless of where you are, are keeping yourselves safe.

Can I ask you, if you enjoyed this story, could you leave me a review at your place of purchase? I had this big spiel planned where I was going to tell you all about the negative impact of pirates on my income lately, but in the end, I would rather leave you smiling at the idea of Zeus changing crappy nappies ??.

Stay safe, know that I love and appreciate each and every one of you, and hug the ones you love tight.

Huge hugs

Lisa.
