was only as Ronun began to thicken and stretch her that he leaned back.
He took a firm grip of her hips and started to thrust—slowly at first—then harder and faster. Kelly cried out every time he hit the end of her, lifting her legs to wrap around him and work herself against him. The pace became frantic and the air was full of the sounds of their panting.
Suddenly he stopped. Kelly looked up, confused. She’d had her head thrown back with her eyes closed as their bodies danced and orgasms were teased into multiples. Ronun shook his head gently.
“Not like this,” he whispered.
She had no idea what he was talking about, and scrambled to hug her knees as he sat down on the edge of the bed. Was this it? Was he leaving for good this time?
He wrapped one arm around her and lifted her easily, positioning her on his lap facing him. She understood immediately, relief washing over her as she wriggled her hips until he was inside her again. Ronun wrapped his hands around her ass and Kelly locked her ankles behind his back, leaning away from him.
Ronun looked into her eyes, so deeply that she could feel it like a physical presence. She couldn’t look away, no matter how hard she tried—she was bound by his gaze. Holding tightly to his shoulders, she leaned in for a kiss, but cried out in pain when he nipped her lip. When she jerked back, the faint stain of her blood was on his lips.
“By our blood, by my seed, I claim thee,” he whispered.
Kelly cried out as the words struck her, in her bones, in her soul. He didn’t look away and she couldn’t. He moved underneath her, gripping her ass as she kept up her own rocking movements.
She felt her orgasm far away, on a horizon she couldn’t yet see. She sensed he was with her in every sense and as her body started to pulse, so did he. His cock throbbed inside her, matching the rhythms of her own body until the pace became frantic. Still, he did not take his eyes off hers.
Kelly felt like she was falling, his eyes like black holes that swallowed her light. She gasped and cried out as her body convulsed, every part of her clinging to Ronun as the most powerful wave of pleasure she had ever experienced cascaded through her—and that was saying something. Ronun gasped and dug his fingers into her and his own climax crested over both of them, leaving Ronun shivering with pleasure as they both collapsed on the bed.
He reached for her and they tangled together as they tried to hug and get into the middle of the bed at the same time. For a few seconds they just held each other, panting as they tried to remember how to be inside their own bodies again.
After only a few minutes Kelly reached for him again, trailing her fingertips over his soft skin. His body woke to her touch, goosebumps flashing across his skin as he got hard all over again.
“More,” she whispered. “Don’t stop touching me. Never stop touching me.”
“Never.”
Several hours later, in the dead of night, Kelly and Ronun headed to the kitchen, staying wrapped around each other even while walking down the stairs. She kept one arm firmly around his waist and he held her tightly under his arm. Even though they both almost fell a couple of times, neither one of them wanted to let go. A week apart had been torture and they had to make up for that lost time.
Kelly finally broke away from Ronun to open the fridge door and stand lazily in front of it, grabbing a pitcher of iced tea and some cupcakes. As she turned around to offer Ronun some sugary sustenance, a dark figure appeared behind him at the doorway that led to the basement stairs.
At first, she thought it was Nathan. Tall shape, shirtless body, quiet step. It took a few moments of blinking in the dim light of the fridge to believe what she saw.
“Ryan?” Her voice came out in a shocked gasp, the kind of sound that would have been a scream if her chest hadn't collapsed in shock.
He struggled to get his shirt back on and gave her a lopsided look, a wink that got stuck in a smile.
“So…that's a thing now?” she asked.
He just shrugged, his cheeks pinking up in an adorable blush, and left the room, making the walk of shame with his head held high.
Kelly turned to Ronun to see him laughing softly as he devoured a cupcake in one enormous bite. She poured some tea for them both and took a few gulps, enjoying the icy tingle in her throat.
“I’m glad everyone seems to be having fun around here,” he said easily.
She'd never seen him look happy or relaxed before. Ever since they'd met—in person, not when he was in statue form—he'd always seemed tense. Maybe haunted was more accurate, and for good reason. For the first time, she realized she was finally getting to know the real Ronun—the Ronun that existed underneath the curse that had chained him.
“Ronun, are you really okay with leaving the court? I mean, you were born to be king of the gargoyles. It's, like, your destiny, and I… Well, I just can't believe I’m enough to give that all up for.”
He set his glass down with a hard clunk and pulled her into his arms. “It's already done, my love. I knew I was descended from royalty, but I never gave a damn about it, never wanted it.”
He paused, stroking her face and running his thumb along her bottom lip where his faint teeth marks shone like roses against the pink blush.
“All I want is to be with you,” he said, focused on her face as if he could rewrite her thoughts by his will alone. “Forever.”
Kelly’s hands came up and covered his, happy tears filling her eyes. She kissed him, loving the ache of his bite on her lip, the sweat sheen that clung to them both, and the sore muscles they shared. Nothing in her life had ever been as intense or all-encompassing as this.
“Besides,” he grinned, “Staying here means I get to keep guarding Othercross. Believe it or not, I love my job and take that responsibility very seriously. Not just Othercross itself, but Hollow House too.”
He looked up into the ceiling and so did Kelly. The house creaked and groaned, and they both smiled as the house tried its very best to talk and add its congratulations to the happy scene.
The groaning sound increased, and Kelly gripped Ronun’s arms tightly, knowing that something was about to go down. She barely had time to think of the many disastrous things the house could do to them before there was a massive crash and the house released a ton of fluttering confetti from the ceiling. A huge banner rolled down on the far wall and they laughed so hard at the message they almost snorted confetti.
WAY TO START OFF WITH A 'BANG'!
“It’s kind of creepy that the house knows everything we do,” Kelly said. “It must know everyone’s secrets.”
Ronun laughed, picking her up and setting her on the kitchen table. He kissed her as he wrapped his arms around her.
“If it likes to watch so much, let’s put on a show!”
Kelly laughed, giving herself up to Ronun’s embrace. With her extra senses, she knew that the house and its resident magical creatures were leaving them in peace—at least for now. And by golly, she was going to take full advantage!
