I hear her laughing down the hall on the way to the bathroom. For the first time in the light of day, I look around at our clothes strewn all over the place, the sheets more off the bed than on. What a perfect night last night was.
Sliding out of the bed, I grab my sweatpants and head to the bathroom with her. After cleaning myself off, I put my sweatpants back on, kissing her cheek as she brushes her teeth. “Come up for breakfast.”
“Just coffee please.”
I shake my head and go upstairs, spotting the beer I left by the front door. I completely forgot about it, so I grab the case and put it in the fridge. Shit, I never got food. Lou said he’d bring some, so I expect to find an empty fridge, but when I open it, it’s got all the essentials. There are small notes on things. “You better be naked when preparing these tomorrow morning” is written on a Post-it note on the eggs.
I pull off the note on the whipped cream and read, “Could be used for food or body—your choice.”
I find another blue Post-it note on the chocolate syrup. “There’s ice cream in the freezer, but I get it if you’d rather lick it off Kingston.”
I shake my head, tearing all of Allie’s little notes off the items. Especially the one that suggests we’d like to take milk and chocolate sauce and make chocolate milk with our mouths. She’s such an oddball.
Stella walks up wearing her robe. I have to say, I half expected her to be dressed for the day. Stella isn’t one for lazy days. I didn’t know if she’d be cool with us spending the day lounging around in bed.
My hands grip her hips and I hoist her up on the counter, parting her legs and letting my fingers inch up her bare thigh enough to check if she’s wearing panties. But there’s nothing but her neatly trimmed hair. “Hmm… I like this.”
She wiggles on the countertop. “I thought you might.” She pulls one side of her robe to the side to show off her tit. Damn, I could take her again right now.
“You better watch out or we might never leave here.”
She captures my lips, sliding her tongue into my mouth. It feels so fucking good to be able to be with her in this way, and I take the opportunity to deepen the kiss until I leave her breathless.
She pulls back and picks up the Post-it notes off the counter. “What are these?”
“Allie’s idea of a joke.”
She reads them, laughing at each one more than the last. “She’s been a blessing for me since I returned.” She crosses her legs but positions the robe so she’s not flashing me. There’s the Stella I know and love.
“You two did get close rather quickly.” I dump the coffee grinds into the filter, fill the machine with water, and start it. “I’ve always liked her.”
“Yeah, what do you think about her and Lou?”
Truth is, I had every intention of talking to Lou about Allie this weekend before I got ambushed with my glorious surprise. “I think they’d be good together, but I worry about Lou hurting Allie.”
Her eyebrows scrunch. “Why? Lou was a great guy when I…”
“Go ahead, I’m not going to get mad.” I smile so she knows it’s okay. I’m secure now in the fact that I’m the one she wants. I always thought she felt that way, which was why it was so frustrating when she wouldn’t let us be together.
“Well, he respected me when I told him about my past with you. He didn’t push anything.”
“He did still try to date you,” I remind her.
She hems and haws but eventually nods. “But I think he knew deep down it would never work. He knew I was hung up on you.”
“Is that so?” I abandon the eggs and pancake mix to put my hands on her again. How will I ever get shit done if I can’t stop touching her? “Want to play a question and answer game?” I kiss the tip of her nose.
“Depends what kind of questions they are. I don’t want to talk about the past.”
I shake my head. “Neither do I, but there’s a lot I don’t know about grown Stella. The fact that I had to find out through Lou that you don’t like breakfast pissed me off.”
