For The Win (Gamer Girls, #6) - Auryn Hadley Page 0,175
in," Psyc promised. "Kinda tired of those fuckers going after my friends."
"I've been tracking a few," Knock added. "Fuckers are good, though. Only ones I'm catching are coming back as the nobodies."
"Still helps," Cyn told them. "Those nobodies include the guy who took a shot at QQ last year at F5."
"Any chatter?" Braden asked.
"You want me to say that here?" Cyn asked.
Braden shrugged, the gesture looking unconscious. "I can't keep track of who you're trusting, but I trust you. Your call."
Cyn paused for a little too long, then, "Yeah, there's chatter. Deviant Games just pissed them off. 'That bitch' - which is usually Dez - just hired 'a freak' - which I can only guess is Rhaven."
"Fits what they've been saying," she confirmed. "It's ok, Cyn. I'm used to it."
"Fuck that!" Knock snapped. "Fuck the homophobic, transphobic, racist, misogynist, loser pieces of shit. Just fucking no!"
"And he's been living with me too long," Riley pointed out. "Evidently, profanity is an Andrews trait. Sorry, Kitty, but Ryan's screwed."
Cyn chuckled. "Well, take that hate and do what you can, Knock. They're gearing up for something big. Something that has them asking about churches."
"Shit," Rhaven breathed. "Because I'm going to hell. But what good is that going to do?" she asked.
"Sadly, I never seem to know until it happens," Cyn admitted. "I need to get higher in the ranks, but that means 'proving myself' and I just can't. Not even faking it. Don't have the stomach for it."
"Tell me what you need," Fizz offered. "Bro, I can mock up some shit. Ice, may need some help."
"All in," Adam promised. "What are you thinking?"
"Got some friends back from our old hood," Fizz told him. "Micah knows some actors. Maybe ask a few of those models you know for some help? Pretty sure we can do something newsworthy, right?"
"I know just the woman," Adam assured him. "Let's make this happen."
"Then we need to talk in private," Cyn said. "The rest of you, go play."
"Braden?" Psyc asked. "Got an open spot on our squad. Want to run with us?"
"Send me an invite," Braden told him. "Character name's Pudge. Been a little too long since I've had time to run a few bases, so Paradox, Executive Pain? How about a three way at the Observatory?"
"Ok, guys, back to our own channels," Riley ordered. "Let's show these two devs that they aren't hot shit anymore. Recall to base and meet me there!"
"Executive Pain," Void said, "let's put Paradox in their place at least once? My dick's starting to hurt. I mean, it's clearly not as big as Braden's but still. The pee-pee ache is real when my woman's busting my balls."
The chatroom began to clear out, but Rhaven was still grinning. "I'm playing medic tonight, guys. Let's do this."
"Nice to have you back," Murder told her. "Let's give you one more thing to celebrate."
Braden just turned and pointed to her plate, making it clear that he expected her to not only kick ass, but also eat something while she did it. Rhaven grabbed another bite, but she liked this. All of this. From coming home and falling into bed with her man to running around the house in his shirt and her panties, and even spending time with her old friends. Everything was completely and totally perfect.
And the strange thing was that she actually owed it all to KoG. It kinda felt like the best way to fuck them over that she could think of.
Chapter 57
They played until late in the night, and fell into bed together again. When the alarm went off the next morning, she was actually excited to get to work again. Today, she was supposed to start organizing her own team. It was going to be a good day, and she felt like she was on top of the world. All of her problems had been solved. It was time to finally start the next stage of her life.
That lasted until Braden turned his car into the driveway at the warehouse. The gates around the property had been closed, but a tag on his car activated them remotely. Even worse, a group of people were standing on either side of the drive, outside the fence, looking like they were mad about something. A pair of signs laying in the grass proved why.
Deviant Games is corrupting our youth!
Men are men. Women are women. Act like it!
Beside her, Braden just sighed. "Evidently, someone has their panties in a wad," he grumbled.
