For The Win (Gamer Girls, #6) - Auryn Hadley Page 0,123

this very clear for all of you. The high table has talked. Every professional or sponsored gamer with the PLG has agreed that we will only speak to reporters who treat us with respect. All. Of. Us. Use my friend's deadname again, and you're all blacklisted. Ask what is in her pants, and we will ask what's in yours. Pretty sure that another reporter will gladly run with that story. So choose wisely."

Rhaven's mouth was hanging open in shock, but Psyc was grinning. "Figured you all would've learned by now that the women in this league shouldn't be messed with. Yes, Rhaven is a friend of mine. I'm more than happy to talk about that little battle, but any of you that misgender her in your articles will be permanently blacklisted." He paused to look at the crowd of journalists. "And I killed her in game because this is the big leagues, ladies and gentlemen. I killed Rhaven because there's not a single doubt in my mind that she would've done the same to me - and has."

"It's all about fighting for the win," Rhaven said. "Winner gets the check. Now if you'll excuse us."

She grabbed Psyc's hand and started walking, pulling him behind her. She didn't expect him to shift his hand and lace his fingers with hers, and she heard the cameras clicking, taking pictures of them, but right now she didn't care. Teamwork was overpowered, and Rhaven was feeling on top of the fucking world.

Chapter 41

That kiss in the hall hung between the pair of them as Rhaven led Psyc up to her room. Her excuse was that she wanted to touch up her face and hair before she was on camera for the final round, but the real reason was that she was dying to know what this was. What did he expect from her? Why was he being so nice? Most of all, why did she feel nervous and giddy and flustered around him all of a sudden?

But the moment she opened the door to her suite, all of that fled from her mind. The beautiful set of rooms she'd been in for days was trashed. Stuffing filled the main living area. The sofa was tossed on its back, and the buttery leather had been slashed. That explained some of the stuffing, but could there really be that much in a couch? It looked like it had snowed. And then there were the splashes of color.

In her state of shock, Rhaven couldn't figure out what those were, but Psyc didn't care about such details. He pushed inside, shoving the door all the way open, and reached for his phone immediately. When she didn't follow, he reached back for her hand, guiding her in, and then up against his side. One arm held her close. The other held his phone to his ear.

"Q?" He finally said. "We have a problem in Rhaven's suite." He paused. "No, I don't fucking need you, but you're the one with all the numbers. I need Ice. I need... fuck. Send Braden this way." Another pause. "Well, run his fucking booth for him. Isn't that what they pay you for? Just get them here, damn it! Someone tossed her suite, and I want to know how the fuck they got in."

Which was when the colors suddenly made sense. They were scraps of fabric. Pieces of her new clothes. Things she didn't even know well enough to recognize yet. All the stuff Kate had bought, and now it was gone. Her breath caught in her throat, but she pulled away, needing to know if this was really happening.

Psyc followed as she headed for the pink thing. That had been a shirt. Her fingers found the silky fabric, crushing it into a ball that she could hold, and she moved on to the next. Lace. Red. It had been a bra and panty set. She couldn't tell which part this had been, but it was ripped and thrown amongst the fluff like some bad joke.

She couldn't breathe. Her eyes were burning. All of the good that had happened was gone, shredded by someone who'd been in her room. Braden? He had a key, but why? And if it wasn't him, then who else could get in here?

Slowly but surely, her feet carried her toward her bedroom. There it was worse - if that was even possible. The bed was trashed. The sheets and blankets had been torn, which explained the fluff. No, her
