kisses were intoxicating, and the response of her body was inebriating, causing him to forget everything but the pleasure he was feeling. It was so amazing, he half-expected it all to be a dream.
“Nova,” he whispered her name, pulling himself away reluctantly at the sound of the other two aliens trying to get his attention behind them. He had no idea how long they had been locked in the corner with her body pinned between him and the wall, and he would have continued to be unaware if not for the others reminding him they weren’t alone. His gorgeous bride made him lose his sense.
“Huh?” she mumbled. Nova blinked up at him with glassy eyes, just as lost in desire as he had been.
“Psssst.”
“Oh, shit,” Nova squeaked, the lust on her face fading away quickly at the sound. “I forgot where we were for a second.” Peeking around his shoulder, she gave the voyeurs a little wave and an embarrassed smile. “Well…that escalated quickly.”
“It did,” he agreed, squeezing one of the thighs he still was holding tight to. “The attraction that burns between the two of us is testament that our match is a good one.”
“We need to put off any more exploring of that attraction for now though,” she said softly as her cheeks flamed bright red. “At least until we find the others and blow this pop stand. Kissing you was a little more than I bargained for, and we need to focus. No more hanky-panky, agreed?”
“Hanky…panky?”
Nova waved her hand at him. “No more kissing and touching and stuff—” She stopped talking and looked down their bodies where she was still wrapped around him. “And no more climbing you.”
“Fine,” he said with a disappointed sigh. Lowering her carefully, he waited until her feet were firmly on the floor before he stepped back. He didn’t like the space between them, but his bride was right. They needed to focus, and that wasn’t going to happen if they gave in to their attraction. He’d need to show restraint.
Stop thinking with your dick, he thought to himself. It was something that Poppy, Wheaton’s bride, said so much he could hear her voice right now in his head. At least until we’ve finished this mission, he mentally retorted.
“We will wait to explore this any further,” he agreed.
“Psssst,” the healer hissed, reminding Axis they still had a marriage to perform before they continued along.
“Ready?” he asked, holding out his hand.
“I’m ready,” she answered, lacing his fingers with her own as she stepped up beside him. “Let’s get hitched.”
Chapter Nineteen
The moment he’d kneeled down to lace up her new boots, her brain immediately melted. Along with other parts of her anatomy. It didn’t help that she couldn’t stop thinking about the kiss they’d shared earlier each time she looked his way.
“Feel good?”
“Huh?” Nova shook her head in an effort to knock herself out of the daydream she’d fallen into again.
“Do they feel like they fit well enough?” Axis pushed on the top to see where her toes lined up inside of them.
Nova chuckled at his fussing for a moment before tapping his shoulder. “They feel amazing. I promise.” She wasn’t lying either. Despite some extra roominess inside the boots, they felt divine. It seemed like forever since she’d had the luxury of wearing shoes, much less a pair that fit her so well. One of Cruum’s slaves had taken the pair of sandals she’d worn when she’d been kidnapped soon after she’d arrived. Weak and defenseless, she’d been easy pickings. Her sandals, the leather belt that matched her sundress, and her gold hoop earrings were stripped off before she’d completely come to.
“I promise to replace them with a better fitting pair once I have you home, but they’ll have to work for now.” Axis stood, skimming his hands up her legs and thighs on the way up.
“They’re perfect,” Nova answered after she swallowed hard. The sexual tension between them had only thickened since leaving Clicky’s house following their shotgun wedding that was all clicks and pssts.
She had no idea how on Earth or wherever she was going to keep her hands to herself. They needed to finish this mission. Enough time was lost arguing with Clicky, getting married, and then shopping for clothes. She couldn’t just waste any more to ogle her new husband. Calm your tits, girl. You’ll have time for that and more later. She just needed to be patient. “All set?”
“Yes,” he answered, taking her hand. “We will search the landing
