Tree Of Souls (Transfusion Saga #6) - Stephanie Hudson Page 0,32

looked behind me as the men on the floor, that I had put there, started to come around. This was of course helped by Big B, after he had kicked a few out of the way, making them groan after he had grumbled,

“Useless fuckers.” Then he held a hand out to me like a gentleman to help me over the pool of blood that came from the tyre iron man. Who, I should probably mention, was looking paler by the minute and was by far the worse off.

“Alright, ya sexy bitch, what is it you need?” he asked after leading me into the other part of the garage.

“Now that, Big B, you can call me,” I told him before walking closer to the line of sweet rides and I felt his gaze on me as I did so.

“Fast and Furious fan, eh?” I asked referring to the mean glossy black 1970 Dodge Charger RT, that I recognised as being driven by Vin Diesel in the movie. Although this one was minus the shiny chrome supercharger raised from the hood. He winked at me and said,

“But of course.”

“It’s nice, but for me its Eleanor every time,” I said walking over towards the utterly gorgeous 1967 Mustang Fastback Gt500.

“These are all the legit cars we have, and you can pick anyone but that one.” I raised a brow at him and said,

“Gone in 60 seconds? A little cliché for you, don’t you think?” He shrugged his shoulders and replied,

“If the shoe fits.”

I smirked to myself as I turned back to the line of muscle cars and saw my choices were a 1969 Chevy Camero SS in candy apple red, an Orange and Black 1969 Barracuda and a beautiful 1960 GTO Pontiac in midnight blue. But for me right now there was only one that seemed to fit, so I told him with my mind firmly set,

“Alright, in that case then I will take the Dodge.”

“Fuck, I knew you were gonna say that! You sure, Dollface? I’ve got a sexy 1967 Chevy Impala Sport out back?” he asked showing the mask of a true wheeler dealer.

“I’ll pass,” I said giving him a knowing look after already running my fingers along the hood of the sleek and sexy looking Dodge.

“Not a Supernatural fan, huh?” I smirked back at him over my shoulder and replied cryptically,

“Oh, Big B, if only you knew.”

A short time later I was handing him the keys to my dad’s Ferrari, knowing that it would cost him a car, but hoping all the same that one day he would get it back. Because you didn’t dissect a car like this. No, this one would be in a container within the hour, I could bet my life on it.

I felt bad that I had stolen it from dad and hated that I was given no choice, but I was on a mission and one day when this was all over…he would understand that. After all, lives were at stake, my mum’s included. And despite the ruins of our relationship, her life and even Lucius’ still meant something to me. Even if I had absolutely no intention of being a part of them again.

“So, what’s the plan here, Sugar, you going on the run or what?” Big B asked when there was nothing left but for me to say goodbye.

“What gave it away?” I asked as I pulled my case from the passenger’s side and carried it over to the Dodge that he’d had one of his guys (not a broken one, but recently arrived) drive out of the shop for me. He gave me a wry look in return and said,

“Wow, that guy must have really done a number on you.” His comment made me wince as the raw and recent memory assaulted me, one I had been purposely trying to hold back until I could afford the time allocated for such a mental breakdown. Which was why what I said next, I did so in a stone-cold way,

“Yeah, well I caught him kissing my mother so…what do you think?” His eyes got wide and hissed through his teeth before saying,

“Fuck, yeah, that would do it.”

I put the bag in the trunk and took off my bloodstained jacket, throwing it in there before pulling my shirt out of the tight waistband of my skirt. I swear, I nearly moaned aloud just thinking about the shower I would have the second I found a motel for the night.

“Look, I know that after what
