Technical Threat (Westin Force #4) - Julie Trettel Page 0,96
he was exaggerating a little, but he said it so proudly that I didn’t bother questioning it.
“I’m a witch too,” Sage blurted out. “I’ve never met another one.”
“Sage is a seer, Kelsey,” Tarron explained.
“Why didn’t I know this?” Kyle asked.
Sage’s face fell. “Does it matter?”
“Hell yeah it matters,” he said.
Her chin started to quiver, and I hugged her protectively putting myself between my sister and them. In that second my entire new world was crumbling around me.
Kelsey nudged him in the gut and shot him a scolding look. “Relax, he didn’t mean that like it sounded. We cherish, um, special gifts here. What he really meant was that we would have reached out long before now if we had known.”
“So I can stay?” Sage asked quietly.
Kelsey reached for her hand and held it tight. “You are welcome here for as long as you’d like, Sage. If you are a true seer, we can use your gift and help you cultivate it, but only if you want. There’s no pressure. I know how hard it can be to be different.”
“Can you help her?” I asked hopefully. Sage had always struggled with the idea of being weird, different.
“Let’s get together and talk tomorrow before the Force descends on this place over the weekend, okay, Sage?” Kelsey asked sweetly.
I moved back to sit with Tarron and gave them a little space. They chatted for a while before Kyle announced it was time to go.
“Are you crying?” Tarron teased.
“Shut up, I’m just happy.”
Sage saw them out. Her excitement at meeting another witch was obvious.
Tarron and I were finally alone.
He pulled me into his arms and kissed me under the stars.
“I love you, Susan.”
I smiled. “I love you too.”
He nuzzled against my neck kissing my mating mark.
“I think we’re going to be happy here.”
“Of course we will. It’s our castle and our fairytale happily ever after.”
“I thought you didn’t believe in that shit?”
I smiled and stared into his eyes. “That was before, but now I have my very own Prince Charming that keeps making all my dreams come true!”

I was destined to be alone with only Fury by my side.
Given my situation it seemed like an ironic name for the cat I’d rescued on a mission shortly before my world spun into darkness and rage. She was my best friend and the only woman I’d ever share a bed with again.
Maybe that seemed a little dramatic, but I had laid eyes on my mate before her death and that was all it had taken for my gorilla to seal my soul to the one woman made just for me, the one woman that could never be.
The cat jumped up onto the bed next to me and cuddled onto my chest. I petted her as she purred happily. She was one reason I was still here. Fury needed me more than anyone else and she was a little shit when I forgot to feed her or clean her litter box. She brought just a tiny bit of normalcy to my otherwise lost soul.
I had replayed the events of that day over and over in my head. More than six months had passed, and it still felt like yesterday. The time was nothing more than a blur and often drunk stupor. I was lucky I even still had a job. Our missions had been few and far
