“Thank you for loving me.”
I knew I wasn’t easy to love. Sometimes I struggled to love myself, but at the end of the day, I knew I was worth it.
Six-Gun saw it, too.
“It’s easy to do, doll.”
This was where I offered my heart to Six-Gun.
He had given me so much these past weeks, and each day, he grabbed a piece of my heart and put it back together.
Him telling me he loved me put the last piece in place.
“You know how you told me you used to sit outside my room and listen to me cry?”
He brushed his lips against mine. “Every night, doll. I was there until you went asleep.”
My savior. He was there when I didn’t even know it. Ready to catch me if I fell.
“You didn’t have to do that. You could have just left. Nothing made you be there. I had nothing to give you.” I laughed flatly. “I don’t even think I have much to give you now, but that’s your problem because you already told me you love me, and I’m not giving you back your heart.” I cleared my throat. “But I can give you my heart in its place. I love you, Six.”
His eyes connected with mine.
Time stood still, and for a brief second, I feared he would take it back.
Throw my heart back in my face and tell me it was all a joke. He had gotten everything he wanted from me, and he was ready to throw me away.
But then Six-Gun did what he always did.
“Been waiting to hear those words, doll. Sound even better than I could have imagined.” He pressed his lips to mine and a tear rolled down my cheek.
I swiped it away. “You thought about me loving you? About saying it to you?” Could this man be any more perfect?
He shrugged and cradled my cheek in his hand. “You’re all I think about, Memphis. Of course I hoped one day you would love me.”
“Happened sooner than you thought?”
He shrugged. “I had no idea when or if it was going to happen. All I wanted to do was be there for you, help you heal, and if I happened to be the one you fell in love with, I knew I would be happy forever.”
“You gave me everything when you didn’t know if I would give you anything in return,” I sobbed.
Yeah, Six-Gun was the perfect blend of rough, tough, alpha blended with sweet, caring, and selfless.
“I knew you were worth it, doll. Even if I got you for a little bit, I knew I would be okay.”
I wrapped my arms around his neck and buried my face in his chest.
This man had given me the best gift he ever could.
He gave me time, and I would spend the rest of my life paying him back.
He helped me heal and asked for nothing in return.
Chapter Eighteen
Mine…
Memphis
“You did what?” Raelyn shouted.
I grabbed the drinks from the bar and loaded them on my tray. “Girl, the next time you and Playboy argue, just grab your boobs. He won’t know what to do and forget everything he was saying.”
It had worked like a charm for me. Hell, I had done it and then Six-Gun told me he loved me.
“He already thinks I’m a little nuts. He might think I’m full-blown crazy if I do that,” Raelyn laughed.
Mitzy rolled her eyes. “You two are not at all what I thought those bikers would end up with.”
Raelyn scoffed and pouted out her bottom lip.
Well, that was a little harsh.
Mitzy glared at us. “I meant that as a compliment, bitches.” She rolled her eyes and grabbed a towel from under the bar. “I have to remember that you two have actual feelings when I talk to you.” She grabbed three shot glasses and set them on the bar. “You’re better than anything those two deserve.” She filled the shots with Fireball and pushed one each to Raelyn and me. “Make sure you make them earn it every night.” She winked and grabbed the other shot.
Raelyn and I each grabbed one and tossed it back.
It burned going down, and I remembered why I didn’t drink while I was working.
Six-Gun came up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist. “You getting my girl drunk while she’s on the clock?” he called to Mitzy. He pressed a kiss to my neck, and I leaned back into him.
Mitzy grabbed the empty shot glasses and dropped them into the sink. “Don’t worry, I know her boss.”
