position on the cool deck with his eyes closed, chin tilted toward the moon. “I don’t feel anything.”
I close my eyes and drop my head back a little more. “It takes longer than two minutes.”
“Two minutes is about as long as he can last, isn’t that right, Kaip?” Spider says from his spot on the other side of the hot tub, his back flattened to the deck with his wife in the same position at his side.
Kaipo chuckles. “I don’t know, why don’t you send Emery over here and put it to the test.”
“Fuck you,” Spider says, but I can hear the smile in his voice.
“If we really want to test our moonbathing theory,” Rowan says in her most authoritative voice. “You guys are going to have to be quiet and focus.”
I feel Loren’s fingers intertwine with mine. I crack an eyelid and find him staring at me.
“It’s working for me,” he says, never taking his eyes off me. “I totally feel it.”
I roll my lips between my teeth and shake my head. “Cheater,” I whisper. “You’re supposed to close your eyes.”
“You don’t know what happens behind these eyelids when I close them around you.” He props himself up on an elbow and looks down the length of my body and back up again. “The fantasies are endless.”
“Hey!” Rowan barks, sitting up and glaring at Loren. “You can’t look at her! You have to focus on the moon. Now you’ve introduced an independent variable so our results are going to be all jacked—whoa!” Carey pulls her down and on top of him. “Does no one here respect the scientific process?”
He silences her with a kiss and when they finally break a part he mumbles, “You know I can’t resist you when you talk like a scientist.”
“Wait! Hold on, I think…”
We all swivel our heads to look at Kaipo who is humping the air above him.
“I can’t unsee that,” Loren groans.
“I think I feel something,” Kaipo says, his hips lifting and rolling. “Oh, yeah… wait…” He does a few sharp pelvic thrusts and then says, “Nope. My dick is just telling me he’s not feeling shit.” He sits up and looks at us all looking at him. “I need to find some single friends.” He pushes up to stand. “You coupled up assholes do nothing for me.”
Emery shoots to sitting up. “I don’t think we can do this experiment with the guys here.” Spider sneaks his hand up his wife’s thigh only to have her bat it away. “They can’t focus.”
I prop myself up on my elbows bringing my face inches from Loren’s so I press my lips to his. “They are very distracting.”
“I’d love to show you just how distracting I can be.”
“I bet you would.” I tilt my head to the side as he kisses up my throat.
“I’m tired all of the sudden.” He nips at my earlobe. “I think we should say goodnight and go to bed.”
I wrench myself back and look at him. “It’s eight o’clock on a Friday, and the whole reason we came to your place is to socialize since we’ve been spending every night for the last two weeks at my place.”
“Yeah, you guys can’t run off yet,” Rowan says while trying to wiggle her way off her boyfriend who isn’t letting her go easily. “I thought we were going to play Trivial Pursuit. I’ve been studying Sports & Leisure for two days.”
Spider cocks a brow at Emery. “You said we were going to play strip Trivial Pursuit.”
“I said what I had to say to get you to agree.”
“Rowan, as always dinner was amazing,” Loren says and stands. “But this moonbathing shit is exhausting so I’m taking my woman to bed.”
I make a show of being put out by his unquenchable need for me, but on the inside I’m thrilled. “Fine, I guess we’re out.”
“Us, too,” Carey says, taking Rowan’s hand and getting her to her feet. “Think of it this way, baby.” He kisses her pouting lip. “Your theory that moonbeams cause horniness is probably true.”
“Except that you guys are always horny.”
“That’s also true.” Spider drags Emery into the hot tub with him and settles her on his lap.
“Coffee in the morning,” I say to Rowan and Emery, who both agree. “Goodnight.”
Loren and I walk hand in hand back inside, and Kaipo is on his phone, asking a girl over.
“Where’s your brother?” I ask as we head upstairs.
“No clue. I think he’s dating someone but he never talks about her or brings her
