know my perky girls get him riled up anyway. “So, you’re telling me that you call back all the girls you hook up with?”
He looks down at his feet with guilt, and I know I got him pegged.
“Yeah, quarterback. I didn’t think so. Now, how about we do this little bit again, shall we? I’m sure your momma gave you more manners than that.”
“Hi, Stone,” he replies sheepishly, giving me the greeting I deserve while looking way too out of his comfort zone.
I bite down the chuckle that wants to leave me because, honestly, it’s too damn funny watching Finn try to fit in when he is miles away from his natural habitat. Why he’s even here is mind-boggling, but it will surely be entertaining to watch him squirm and cringe at being in my neck of the woods.
“Hi, yourself, pretty boy. I have to admit, I didn’t think I’d see you in here again. Has the Northside become too boring for you? Is it not giving you enough action, and now you have to drive here to get it?” I tease, leaning my hip on the counter.
“I just came to see you. That’s all,” he mumbles, still looking like he’d rather be anywhere else but here.
“Me? You came to see me?”
“You say it like it’s unfathomable or something. Yeah, I’m here to see you. Haven’t I stalked your ass enough around school for you to know I like looking at you?” he grumbles, and although the words coming from his mouth seem as if he resents the fact that he’s here, the reason behind it is kind of sweet. I guess as sweet as a guy like Finn can be.
“Yeah, I like looking at you, too. Still, I wouldn’t drive miles out of the fancy part of town to visit this hellhole to do it.”
“You didn’t answer your phone, and things got a little bit hectic back at school today, so this was the only way I could catch up with you.”
“It’s been just two days since we saw each other, Finn. You’re not catching feelings, now are you?” I joke, but my tone sounds as if the idea of such a thing were worse than catching an infectious disease.
“It’s not like that,” he counters defensively, this time being man enough to look me in the eye.
Now that’s more like it.
I take a minute to answer him because, damn, he’s pretty. I mean, men shouldn’t be this fucking pretty. It makes smart girls do stupid things, and I’m way too smart to be this stupid. But still, I take my time to give him a once-over and let my eyes enjoy the view for a minute.
If I lick him, could I claim him?
Cause I definitely wouldn’t mind licking those abs from top to bottom.
Sweet baby Jesus. He’s too damn gorgeous for his own good.
“Stop looking at me like that. I told you, I just wanted to see you. That’s all,” he explains, completely misreading why I’m gawking at him.
“I sure hope so because you might be cute, but I don’t do feelings,” I warn him, making it clear where I’m at and hoping to God Almighty he didn’t see me drool there a second ago.
“Neither do I.”
“Good to know.” I throw him the first smile as his reward for giving me the right—and only—answer worth my time. “So, what can I get you?”
“As long as it comes from a bottle, anything will do.”
I grab him a beer and slide the bottle back to him, ignoring the other customers at the counter who also want their liquor. They can wait. Pretty boy here can’t.
“That will be fifteen dollars.”
“Last time, it was six.” He furrows his brow.
“Last time you didn’t have the pleasure of my company, now did you? Consider it tax.” I smile sweetly, batting my eyelashes at him.
He passes me a twenty, and I start heading to grab his change, only for him to tell me to keep the rest.
Don’t mind if I do.
I watch him clean the bottle ring with his shirt, looking like he’s afraid of getting an STD just by wrapping his lips around it. The urge to tease him is strong, but another customer calls out to me, so I lose my shot at busting Finn’s balls for his cautious ways, which is a shame since I kind of like seeing him all riled up. I’ve seen firsthand what a little fire burning in his veins does to him, so it’s just too delicious and
