she groused.
He couldn’t help but smile. “Always, mom. Now get to getting while I get my shit together.”
They both stared at the phone after it went silent.
“I think she misses having a companion.” Talena kissed his chest, her small hand rubbing over the area where her lips had been.
“She’s a beautiful woman. She should date, find a man who...shit, I can’t even imagine her doing—that.” He shook his head, then tugged Talena’s head back by her hair. “I need to go and make sure she’s safe.”
“I’m going with you.” Her mouth was set in a stubborn line.
Scott could be just as stubborn, even more so. “No way, baby girl. I can’t focus on keeping her safe if I’m worried about you. If you’re here, I know you’re good as long as you stay inside. Nobody knows about this location except Cosmo and his guys.”
She opened her mouth to argue with him. Scott couldn’t allow her to distract him. He couldn’t be swayed, not in the safety of the two women he loved above everyone and everything else. He bent, silencing her protest in a possessive kiss, sweeping his tongue inside, tasting the coffee she’d drank before pulling back. He rested his forehead against hers, inhaling the fresh scent of her shampoo and conditioner. “I’m asking you to please do as I’ve asked of you.” It was as close to begging as he’d ever come.
“You don’t play fair.” She sniffed.
“You best not be crying, or I swear to all that’s holy when I get back, I’ll put you over my lap and give you twenty. You haven’t seen my playroom, baby. I said I didn’t have a red room, and I don’t. I have a room that I designed for me and my woman’s pleasure. When I get back, I’ll show you just what’s real that’ll make the movie you loved look like child’s play.” He swooped down for another kiss, this one harder, and then he released her and stepped back.
“I’ll hold you to that. Can I explore while you’re gone?” she asked, folding her hands in front of her body.
He shook his head, wishing like hell the fucker Louis hadn’t decided to sign his own death warrant. Talena stood before him in one of his T-shirts, looking like a virgin ready to be debauched and he had to leave. Fuck he wanted to do all kinds of things like fuck her every which way to Sunday. His dick jumped beneath the loose sweats, precome leaking from the tip, making a wet spot in the front of the damn grey material.
“No, mon pourri, you can’t explore that room while I’m gone. It’s locked, and only I can open it. You have access to every other space in our home.” He made sure to emphasize the word our when he spoke.
“How long will you be gone?” She waved her hands in the air. “Forget it, don’t answer that. I’m being needy and stupid. Just go, you need to hurry and stop pandering to me. Mom is the one who needs you right now. I’ll be fine here alone. Go on, get dressed, and hurry up.” She pushed at his chest, trying to get him to turn toward the bedroom.
“You’re every bit as important to me, T.” He threaded his fingers through hers, pulling her with him. “Come on, I want you to talk to me while I get dressed. There’s things I need to tell you before I leave.” Things like where he kept an extra gun she could access and where the safe room was.
ROQ LOOKED AT HIS CELL, raising a brow at the number on the caller ID. “Howdy, Hollywood, what’s up?”
“Are you and your friends close?”
“As in around the block or in close proximity?” Roq flipped Axl off as his friend snorted across the room.
“I need backup now, and it might include dead bodies, however I don’t have time to call Cosmo or the others.”
“We’re about ten minutes from you. We’ll meet you outside your gate in thirteen.” Roq disconnected the call, getting to his feet already making his next call. Cosmo may not be there, but he wouldn’t be taking the team, or part of the team into a situation where they’d be killing and disposing of bodies without letting his brother know about it.
“You calling daddy to let him know we gonna be getting into some trouble?” Cannon asked, his grumpy snarl worse than usual.
“If you don’t want to come, you can stay here and play
