Return to Me (To Me Series #1) - Lucy Darling Page 0,7
from me. “I think you take care of yourself as well, Victor.”
“I do,” I agree. “I also find I might enjoy it if you took care of me.” I snag her hands, intertwining our fingers. I was trying to not touch her but I really have no control. “I rather enjoyed taking care of you earlier.” I smile. She raises her eyes back to meet mine, causing our eyes to lock. Her mouth parts. Her fingers tighten against mine.
“Can I start you off with one of our specialty cocktails?” The server interrupts us. I sigh as Mackenzie closes her mouth.
“Champagne,” I respond. “We are, after all, celebrating.” I lift Mackenzie’s hand, kissing it. “My wife will have the ribeye cooked medium. I’ll take the special you mentioned when we sat.”
“How do you know I want the ribeye?”
“You always get the ribeye.” I smile at her. “It’s the sides you struggle with. Bring us one of each.”
“Right away.” The man grabs the menus before taking back off.
“You think you know me? I’m guessing you had one of those files put together on me.” She doesn't sound mad about it. I’m guessing she’s had to have made a few over the years working for Colt. It is standard practice to dig into people before you go into business with them.
“Of course I did.” That at least gets me a laugh from her. I’d gotten every bit of information I could on her. I was a starving man. I would take anything I could get. She’s had me on the hunt for a while. I needed something to keep me busy. Why not brush up on her while I waited? “The question is, did you have one pulled on me?”
“Maybe.” She shrugs as the server sets down a glass of champagne for her. She picks it up and chugs the whole thing down. She is nervous. Why? Yes, something has definitely changed. “You want to tell me why you’re wearing a ring?”
“Bring her another, please,” I tell the server. “I’m a married man. Why wouldn't I wear a ring? I’m guessing I can’t get you to wear one?” I offer.
“Depends. I’d have to see it.” I reach into my pocket, pulling out the ring that I handpicked for her, having already ditched the box earlier. Her eyes go wide as she stares at it.
“You really got me a ring?”
I don’t know why she’s so surprised about this. I want my mark on her just as I wear hers on me. She may not have put it there necessarily but I have faith that one day she will. A ring is my first step in marking her. Sliding my cock into her virgin cunt and spilling my seed deep inside her, letting her body know that it belongs to me and only me, is the next.
“Give me your hand.”
She holds out her hand for me. Now I’m the one who’s surprised as she lets me slip the ring right on to her finger where it belongs. Something settles within me with that tiny action, knowing she’s agreed to be mine, for now.

Mackenzie
I stare at the ring, unable to take my eyes away from it since Victor put it on my hand. I shouldn't have let him do it but I found myself holding my hand out. Baiting him to put a ring on my finger without a challenge. One I knew I was going to lose but yet I did it anyway.
“Are you not hungry?” I snap my eyes up from the ring to look at Victor. “I thought you’d like the mac and cheese.” He lifts a bite of it to my mouth. I part my lips, letting him feed me. I can’t taste anything. I was starving when we came down here, but now all I can think about is the ring on my finger. It makes this marriage all the more real. As soon as that ring slid on to my finger, Victor seemed to relax.
“I guess I’m not as hungry as I thought.”
“Relax, Mackenzie,” he tells me again. I feel my body follow his command as I sink back into my chair. I have to fight myself from asking him why he’s suddenly calling me Mackenzie. It’s been wife since he got here. Was it the ring that I’d so easily let him put on my finger? I told myself if I stopped running, he’d stop chasing me. Is that happening already? Why do I feel a bit of disappointment?
