admitting that she loves me and would never leave me again soothes something deep inside of me.
“I have to pee.” She giggles. I keep my eyes closed as she kisses me all over my face. “We can’t stay in this bed forever.”
“Kiss me and I’ll let you go.” My fingers tangle in her hair, pulling her closer to me. “For now,” I add before her mouth meets mine in a deep kiss. I let her go before it gets out of hand. She crawls from bed and I roll over to watch her walk naked across the room into the bathroom.
I pull myself up to lean against the headboard to wait for my wife to return. I smile when I realize I don’t even know what fucking day it is. I don’t give a shit either. I couldn't tell you where my phone is. It doesn’t matter. Everything I could ever want and need is under my roof. As long as I have Mackenzie, I don’t give a shit about anything else.
She comes strolling out a moment later, wearing my shirt. It looks sexy as fuck on her but I prefer her naked.
“This house is really breathtaking.” She points back toward the bath. “Are those floors heated?”
“I pride myself on the details.” I built this house for her. I took a little bit of everything I knew she loved and put it together. She’d made it easy for me to find everything she wanted. Sometimes I wonder if she knew I was watching. Leaving me a trail to make the life we would have together. Trusting that I would take care of it. Take care of her.
“One of the many things I love about you.” She drops down on the bed, crawling over toward me and giving me a kiss. “I’m going to make you breakfast.”
“I can order something,” I tell her, playing with her hair.
“I want to make my husband breakfast.” She gives me another kiss. Her coming to me and giving affection is never going to get old. This woman has me in the palm of her hand and there is nowhere else I’d rather be.
“You want to see the kitchen?” I smile against her mouth, knowing that cooking is what she does in her free time. It’s how she relaxes.
“I do.” She gives me another quick kiss. I let her go, watching her bounce from the bed and head out of our bedroom. I get up, pulling on sweatpants to follow her. I stop when I hear a vibrating noise. I spot her purse on the floor. I pick it up, pulling out her phone to see her sister calling.
If it was anyone else I’d toss the phone back down but I know how much her sister means to her and it’s something I’ll never come between. I make my way down the hallway to see Mackenzie pulling things out of the refrigerator as my shirt rides up on her thighs.
“Your sister is calling.” I hold her phone out for her.
“Oh.” She takes it from my hand. It stops vibrating but starts again. “Crap. It’s not like me to not check in.” She answers the call. “Hey.”
She holds the phone to her ear. “What day is today?” She looks at the clock as if it has the date on it.
“Saturday,” I tell her, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear before I head over to turn the coffee maker on to make her a cup.
“What!” she shouts. I jerk around to see what’s wrong. Her mouth hangs open in shock.
“What? Is everything okay?” I rush over to her. I can hear her sister laughing through the phone so it can’t be that bad. I take the phone from her, putting it on speaker.
“I can’t believe you forgot.” Her sister keeps on laughing.
“I forgot. I’m so sorry. I’m a horrible sister.” Her shoulders drop.
“What did she forget? I’m sure it’s my fault.” I try and cover for my wife, wanting to take the blame for her. The corner of her lips twitch up in a smile.
“My wedding.” Madison laughs more.
“I’m so sorry,” Mackenzie says again. The look on her face is fucking killing me.
“Don’t be sorry! I love that you got so wrapped up in something that was for yourself. It’s about time that someone made you forget about the rest of the world.” Madison sounds so happy about this. It makes me smile, too, that I am the one that made her forget about everything else.
