Rescued Alpha (Billionaire Alphas #6) - Skye R. Richmond Page 0,29

it’s better than magic because it was, and it was great. We had a fabulous time, and once again…we had sex.” He bit his lips waiting for Jace’s reaction.

“Holy shit!“ Jace backhanded his arm again. “Finally.”

Eli rolled his eyes and chuckled.

“Are you going to see him again? Of course you are, he’s the one that called. Does he like you? Do you like him? Is it going to be a thing?”

“I hope so…” He took a breath and nodded, “I think we both really like one another.” Eli closed his eyes. I hope so. I really hope so.

“Then, there you have it…there’s absolutely no problem here. At least, none that I see.”

Eli rolled his eyes, “No one ever said there was. You were just being nosy.” He shook his head, “Actually, scratch that. I think there kinda is.”

“Well, spill it. Or do you need me to pry it out of you?” Jace asked.

“So here’s the thing. Jack doesn’t know I have a child,” he admitted. “I haven’t told him yet. And I don’t know if I should tell him or even how. My stomach starts cramping at the thought. But it’s probably too soon, anyway.”

“Why wait?“ Jace asked, arching a brow. “If he can’t take it, pluck that sucker out like a bad weed.”

“I don’t want to scare him off completely. I never thought I’d see him again. In the back of my mind, I hoped, but after the one night stand”—for some reason, his voice lowered on that—“I had no intention that we’d ever see.. just didn’t think we’d ever see each other again. I figured, hey, he lives in a hotel room, this is temporary.” Eli let out a breath. “But I was wrong, and he’s nice and sweet. And he doesn’t care that I own my own store and I’m not some stay-at-home, dinner-waiting-at-the-table omega. He invited me to look at houses.. He wants me to go with him this afternoon and check out another one he found. It’s new, and I don’t know him that well, but he’s kind. But the odds are good he’ll run if he finds out I have a kid, right?”

“Does he want you to move in with him?“ Jace asked.

“What? No! This is only about him needing a place to stay. Besides, you didn’t answer my question. And he just wants me to help, probably cause I’m from the area. That’s all. Nothing else. It doesn’t even have to be anything else.”

The more Eli talked, the more he wondered if he was trying to convince himself or Jace.

“You need to talk to him.” Eli looked up, meeting Jace’s gaze. “He can’t go on not knowing about Damon. You’re assuming. Right now, you’re assuming that Jack will be scared away by the fact that you have a son, but you don’t know that for sure. You’re making assumptions on his behalf, and no one likes that. Just please…talk to him. You said he was kind and sweet. Maybe give him a chance to prove he is.”

Eli nodded. Jace was right. That didn’t make him any less scared shitless to take the plunge. He didn’t know how Jack would respond, and that was the most frightening thing ever.

His stomach was doing a good job of trying to bring up the sandwich he’d had for lunch.

They were in a good place, and he didn’t want Jack to run from him because he had kept this secret from him. Or because Damon existed.

“Oh, and just for the record, if he wanted feedback from someone that lives in town, he has his brother. More than one, as I recall.” Jace gave him a pointed look.

“I hear you, and I’ll figure it out,” Eli said. “Now, we’d better get back to work. I have to get this cake ready by Thursday, and the thing is huge.”

Jace nodded. “It is, but it’s beautiful. Good luck. I have dough to prep.” With that, Jace sauntered away.

He definitely needed luck. And he’d used up some running into Jack twice already. Now all he needed was for the man not to run in the other direction.

Jack arrived on the dot, which had Eli thinking he was early and then waited till it was time.

Eli waved to Jack when he came out of the kitchen and then felt like an idiot.

“Hi.” Jack waved back at him.

“Hi.” Eli grinned.

Jack walked over to him and slipped his hand into Eli’s. “Hi,” he said again, then lowered his and kissed him. Eli’s body went soft,
