Rescued Alpha (Billionaire Alphas #6) - Skye R. Richmond Page 0,28
Eli picked up the phone rather quickly.
"Hey. Hi." Jack could hear the smile in Eli’s voice. "I hoped you would call. I was thinking about you."
"You haven’t left my mind ." Jack meant that with every fiber of his being.
"Really?" Eli whispered.
"Really," he repeated. "Saturday and Sunday were amazing. How I wish you could have stayed longer, and how I definitely want us to do a repeat."
"Me, too," Eli said. "Me, too,"
"Great." Jack grinned, not that there was anyone around to see him. "On that note, I have a proposition for you."
"Ooohhh…well that sounds interesting, and I am definitely intrigued." Eli laughed. "What is it?"
"Can you get off work at four o’clock today? Just for maybe an hour or so. There’s a house that I’d like you to go see. I thought you could come along with, just so that there’s another pair of eyes."
"It is pretty busy today, but I can make it work. Do you want to meet me there or what were you thinking?" Eli asked.
"How about I pick you up?" Jack suggested that because it gave them more time together. "If that works for you, I can bring you back to work. And if you need to finish things up, you can, and then we can grab dinner maybe."
"Sounds great!" Maybe he was imagining it but he could. "I’m looking forward to it."
"Okay. I’ll be there. Three forty-five," Jack said. "See you soon."
"See you soon," Eli replied.
They hung up the call, and Jack got back to work. He needed to make sure he was leaving this office on the dot. Eli was waiting.

Eli
Eli jumped when he felt a hand on his shoulder and turned to find Jace. "Oh…thought I was alone. What did you say?"
"I said you're three steps away from being Mary-friggin-Poppins." His friend's brow was raised. "You're grinning. You've been grinning since you came in today." Jace's eyes narrowed as he studied him.
"I'm in a good mood. Why is that so surprising?" Eli stretched as he rolled yet another flower for a wedding cake. It was probably the hundredth, but he'd lost count a while back.
"There's good mood, and then there's great mood, my friend, and you're maybe past great mood. You've hummed and smiled even though you’re rolling sugar flowers for an eight-tiered wedding cake, and that's after baking chocolate, salted caramel, and raspberry cream cakes, and icing them. So yeah, you heard me. What gives?"
"Nothing," Eli said.
"So was that a good phone call?" Jace asked.
He arched a brow.
“Don’t give me that look. You have a glow. You’re glowing. So that must have been one heck of a phone call. I’d say it was a very good phone call. Wanna dish?”
As much as he wanted to share, he also kind of wanted to keep Jack to himself a little longer.
But he also wanted to stand on the rooftop and shout about how amazing Jack was. He wanted to tell someone how much he hoped he was the real deal.
“Promise not to tell anyone, and I mean anyone anyone.” Jace was close to his sister, too. So through him, there was a good chance his family would find out.
Jace stuck his lips out in a pout. “Ouch! That hurt! I’m one of your best friends.” He emphasized the word and gave puppy dog eyes.“If you can’t trust me, then who can you trust?”
Of course he would tell Jace.
“Spill already,” Jace said.
“Well, let’s see. Remember Jack Vaughn?” Eli said.
Jace chewed the side of his lip. “The one that came in with his brother to book the cake?”
Eli nodded. “Yeah. Well, he’s the guy that I kinda sorta hooked up with that night that you guys were giving me a hard time. My birthday,” he added for clarity.
Jace’s mouth dropped open. “I thought he looked familiar. I just couldn’t place him. I must have been really tipsy cause I always recognize a hot alpha. Still, wow… that’s a crazy coincidence. Did he know that you worked here?”
Eli shook his head. “Nope. At least not until he saw me, that is. Anyway, so we sort of went out again on Friday night.”
“What?” Jace smacked his arm. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I don’t know. I guess there was a part of me worrying it wouldn’t go well and tried not to get my hopes up. I wanted to just get through the night and see how things were between us. I think a part of me was worried the magic from the first night would be gone. But
