Luna and I snicker to ourselves as a couple of prospects bring us some plates of food.
Lasagna and garlic bread, comfort food at its finest. Yum.
“So, what do you do when you’re not being hunted by a stalker?” Luna asks, taking a bite of her food. When nobody answers, she pauses and looks around. “What, too soon?”
I can’t help but laugh. This woman is nuts.
“I’m a mechanic.”
“Seriously? That’s awesome.”
“What about you?”
There is silence for a beat before she answers, “I make custom gift baskets.”
“Ooh, I’ll have to take your number. I’m shit at giving gifts. This way, I can get you to pull something together for me and I can just take all the credit,” I admit, making her laugh.
“That’s usually what happens.” She grins before baby Ruby starts crying again, this time in earnest.
“Sorry, Bates, but when she’s like this, only my boobies will do. She is just like her fathers,” Luna tells him as her guys smile on unapologetically.
Bates hands a squalling Ruby over reluctantly before turning to look at me, then down to my belly.
“Let me stop you right there, princess. This is not an episode of pimp my womb where one of you guys toss a coin, douse me with cum, and hope it ends with me giving birth to a little crotch goblin. No offense, Ruby,” I say to the little girl who is now discreetly sucking away at Luna’s boob that is partially hidden by a blanket.
Everyone laughs, but I ignore them with a huff.
“What time do we need to head back to the hospital?” Priest changes the subject, his gruff voice making me look up at his tone, but his eyes are focused on Bates.
I don’t know what the hell they are silently communicating with each other, but it makes Bates flinch. That only lets me know it’s something big, so I make a mental note to ask them about it later.
“Visiting hours start again at seven,” I answer, taking a bite of my food.
“Okay, let’s eat and head over then,” he adds, as everyone around the table goes quiet, sensing the odd tension that has suddenly appeared.
“Are you stopping here for the night or heading back to Vegas?” asks Orion, who had been sitting quietly observing our little group.
“We’ll probably crash here then head back early if things with her brother are okay. If not, we’ll stay as long as needed. The club is in good hands with Trick and Axel,” Priest responds, pushing his food around his plate.
“Well, the room’s yours as long as you need it,” Orion offers.
“Thank you,” I tell him quietly.
“You’re Carnage, that makes you family.”
“I have something I wanna do tonight and you’ll be the perfect partner in crime. I’ll come find you when you’re back,” Luna says with a devious smile.
“Not happening, Luna,” Bates growls.
“Did you forget she has a stalker after her?” Saint questions, his voice tight.
“Over my dead body,” Priest snarls.
I lean forward, shove my plate aside, and bang my head against the table a few times before facing Luna.
“It’s the boobs,” I tell her.
She sighs. “It always is.”
“What the fuck are you talking about?” Priest grunts.
“I’m talking about you assuming Luna is some kind of airhead who would take me out and get me shot or that I’d willingly put myself in danger just willy-nilly like that. I’m talking about the fact that Luna knows I don’t have a property patch and what that can mean for me. So my question is, do you think Luna is out to get me or just a dumb blonde with a nice rack?”
“They are nice, aren’t they? It’s the milk. It keeps them nice and round,” Luna adds, making me look down at her chest, where I can see
