cries out in agreement.
I look behind me at a noise and realize Igor and Stinger have grabbed Sid—still unconscious—and are dragging him out. They toss him on the ground next to Hugo’s feet. Two more of my packmates grab Welsh and shove him onto his knees besides Sid’s prostrate form.
“Here you go,” Hugo says with a flourish. “Get all the information out of them that you can. This pack needs a new alpha and a new second. Pick them amongst yourselves who will be better than these sacks of shit, and then put them down,” he says harshly. “Because if you don’t, I will.”
The gleam in Sid’s pack’s eyes as they inch closer to their unconscious alpha and a shaking Welsh tell me that they intend to do just that.
“And if anyone comes near any of my pack members again, know that we won’t be so lenient next time as to let you walk away with your lives.”
Nobody dares to speak against him.
Hugo looks around. “Pack Aberrant, let’s go.”
I follow Hugo and Igor towards the cars, Luca’s hand moving to my waist. When I hear vicious snarls and a scream, my head snaps around, and I see that Sid’s pack has descended on him and Welsh like rabid dogs. I wince when some of them shift, and the mongooses and rats start gnawing on their skin and tearing into them, while the ones still in human form demand answers.
“Don’t look, baby,” Luca says, urging me forward.
Sid’s screams follow us all the way to the cars. I stop beside Karina. “They found you.”
She glances away from where she’s watching Sid and Welsh get torn apart to meet my eyes. “They did. Thanks to you.”
“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry I didn’t stop him that day,” I tell her, feeling so damn guilty I want to cry.
“It’s not your fault.”
“Come with us,” I tell her. “Come join Pack Aberrant and get away from all this.”
But she shakes her head. “I’m staying to make sure they do shit right. To make sure that none of the others have to go through what we did.”
I give a little disappointed nod. “I understand. If you change your mind, you know where to find us.”
She nods and then goes right back to watching the bloody display in the yard. I rejoin Luca, and he brings me toward the cars. The passenger door to a black SUV is thrown open, and Luca leads me to it. As soon as I slide into the car, I let out a sigh. It’s over. I can’t believe that it’s actually over. My head is reeling at everything that just happened.
“You look banged up. You alright?”
I find Penn and Herrick in the front seats and Lafe in the back. “I thought I saw some coyotes running around,” I say with a small smile. “And yeah, I’m okay. My jaw hurts like a bitch though.”
Luca’s eyes roam over me, and his mouth thins when he takes in my injuries. “Fucker. I’m glad he’s getting ripped apart right now.”
I chance a look out the window and see that Sid’s pack are dragging a very bloody Sid inside the house. I shudder and look away.
“Hey. He can’t hurt you anymore,” Luca tells me.
I nod and open my mouth to say something, but then I see the huge welt on his head. “Cheese and mice, are you okay?”
He winces when I press my fingers over the wound. “I’m good. I promise. It’ll be healed soon enough.”
I let out a relieved breath. “How did you guys find me?”
“I tracked your scent,” Luca tells me. They knocked me out for a bit, but Igor and Stinger woke me up. I shifted, and I was able to follow the scent of the car that had you. Luckily, they didn’t take you too far. Igor and Stinger followed me in the other car. As soon as we had a location, we called in our packmates.”
“Yeah, we were out patrolling when Stinger called to let us know what happened. Addie is out of her mind worried about you,” Penn tells me as he starts up the car.
“I’ll text her,” Herrick says from the front passenger seat as he pulls out his phone.
“I already did,” Lafe says.
I look over my shoulder at him where he’s sitting in the back row. He’s shirtless, digging through some bags in the back, his hair uncharacteristically loose from its usual man bun. Clothes go flying as he tosses shirts and pants at all the guys who
