Reclaiming Quinn - Parker Williams Page 0,11
could sense Sean’s emotional state. Deke must be sensing Quinn’s, and he knew Quinn was near panic.
“Hey, what’s wrong?” He reached out and put a hand on Quinn’s arm. “Why are you so afraid?”
Quinn turned, his nostrils flared. “You’re going to take me home with you, right?”
“Of course. I wouldn’t ever leave you. If you want, we can get back on the plane. We’ll go back to Lydon right now. If you choose to stay, you’re going to be with me every minute.”
It took a moment, but then the overwhelming fear ebbed. “Don’t leave me, okay?”
“Never going to happen.” Because you’re my mate was on the tip of Deke’s tongue, but he held it back. He needed Quinn to be comfortable with his new life before he threw in things like mating and sleeping in the same bed with him forever. “Y’know, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to stay in Lydon.” It wasn’t the total truth, but Deke didn’t feel bad about the little white lie. “But when I met you, I couldn’t think of anywhere I was happier.”
“Because you got to be my….” He peered around, then leaned in. “Master?”
No, that wasn’t it at all, but it was the only term Quinn knew. “Yes, that’s it exactly. And because I am, where I go, you have to be with me. I need you. I depend on you.”
Only he didn’t. Deke had been self-sufficient for years, and he rarely needed help from anyone. More than anything, he wanted this charade to be over. He wanted Quinn to know why Deke truly needed him, and pushing him in a wheelchair wasn’t anywhere on that list.
The front desk staff was efficient and courteous, getting them checked in within a few minutes. The bellman whisked them to the Presidential Suite, and when he opened the doors, Deke couldn’t miss the sharp intake of breath from Quinn. He stood openmouthed, staring at the room while the bellman put the bags in the bedroom. Deke tipped him, and with a nod of his head, the young man left.
“Do you like it?”
“Yes, Master. I’ve never been so high up before.”
That awe was in Quinn’s voice again. It felt good to do something for him that no one else ever had.
“If you think the room is nice, come check this out.” He rolled across the room to the east-facing balcony and slid open the door. “Check out the view.”
Quinn rushed to where Deke sat and stepped out. “Oh. This is…. It’s breathtaking.”
The sun had begun to go down, and the entire city was awash in oranges and violets with a few wisps of dark clouds moving through. To someone like Deke, who’d seen it many times before, it wasn’t anything special, but here with Quinn? It spoke to his heart.
“I love it here. And I’m glad I get to share it with you.”
“Master, I… I….”
He sniffled. The jumble of Quinn’s emotions swept over Deke. Quinn was so open and honest that nothing was hidden. He was in awe of Chicago, and the fact he was with Deke made him happy.
“Master? Why did you thank me earlier? You said you’d tell me when we got to the room.”
It was like all the oxygen had been sucked from the room. Deke still wasn’t certain what to say.
“Because you made me happy, and in polite society it’s good to say please when you want something and thank you when you get it. I asked you to say my name, and you did. That made me happy.” He knew he shouldn’t. He didn’t want to push too hard too fast, but… “Could you say it again?”
For months Deke had wanted to hear his name from Quinn’s lips, and now that he had, he never wanted to be called anything but that.
“Yes, Deke.”
Oh Goddess. He reached for Quinn’s hand. “You know, it’s perfectly okay if you want to call me Deke instead of Master no matter where we are.”
Why? Why couldn’t he shut the hell up? Why was he pressing for this?
Because he’s our fucking mate, and I want to hold him so desperately. To calm him, to love him.
“But I…. It’s not proper.”
There was more to it than that. Deke could sense it.
“Quinn?”
“There’s only one bed.”
He changed the subject, and that seemed to calm him. As much as Deke wanted to press, he decided he should continue at Quinn’s pace, not his.
“There are two bedrooms, but they both have king-size beds, which means plenty of room. If you’d prefer for
