Reclaiming Quinn - Parker Williams Page 0,10
shattered bones from this touch. Though he knew he shouldn’t, Quinn tightened his grip slightly, wanting to show Master that he appreciated the touch. Master’s eyes went wide, and Quinn was certain he detected a sheen to them.
If Quinn had known how easy it was to make Master smile, he would have called him by name months ago.
Or maybe not.
HE SAID it. He said my name. Fuck, I could cry right now.
Never had Deke heard a sound as sweet as Quinn’s voice whispering his name. It was soft, almost like a prayer.
“Please, say my name again.”
The corner of Quinn’s lip quirked up. “Deke.”
Holy hell, if Deke died right now, he would go out the happiest man on the fucking planet. He pulled Quinn closer. “Thank you.”
The almost but not quite a grin vanished. “Why are you thanking me, Master?”
And just like that, the good feelings were replaced by the cold ones again. Still, Quinn had said it, and he’d done it to make Deke happy. Fine, maybe Deke had pushed it a bit by making Quinn say it several times in a row, but his desires had gotten control of Deke’s common sense. He would need to be more mindful of that in the future.
“We’ll talk about it when we get to our room, okay?”
Quinn dipped his chin. “Okay.”
He continued to gaze in wonderment at the buildings, the people, even a person walking some dogs. It seemed to Deke that Quinn was doing his best to commit all the sights and sounds to memory, as though he’d never be able to experience them again.
“We can come back, you know.”
Quinn’s gaze snapped to Deke. “I’m sorry, what?”
“If you like it, we can come back. I used to come here when they did surgery on my back, and I enjoyed it a lot.” He reached for Quinn’s hand, grateful when Quinn didn’t pull away. “I’d like to see new places with you.”
When Quinn shrank back, Deke knew he’d done it again. If he wanted to help Quinn, Deke would have to rein in his natural inclinations. Though he’d never had a mate before, Deke wanted to do so much with Quinn. He wanted to build a life around him, wake up with him in the mornings, fall asleep with Quinn in his arms at night. Never before had Deke considered those things, but after Gareth and Sean found each other, it was the only thing Deke could think of. The day he’d entered the kitchen of their home and the scents of jasmine, brown sugar, and patchouli washed over him, Deke had known Quinn was meant to be his.
The cab pulled up in front of the hotel then. A smartly dressed young man rushed to open the door for Quinn, who stepped out, his mouth open wide as he stared at the tower.
“We’re staying here?”
The undisguised awe in Quinn’s voice went right through Deke. He’d made Quinn happy, and that filled him with such warmth.
“Come on, let’s get a move on. We have a lot of things to do while we’re here.”
“Yes, Mas… I mean, Deke.”
The doorman opened Deke’s door as the cab driver pulled the wheelchair from the trunk. As they were trying to help Deke into it, Quinn came rushing around the side of the car.
“I can do this.” He peered into the car. “Did you want help?”
It was a sweet thought, but Deke had been doing this for years. Still, if Quinn was going to offer, the least Deke could do was take him up on it.
“Can you hold the chair for me?”
“Of course.”
Quinn gripped the handles so tight his knuckles were white. Deke shook his head, and in a movement practiced for many years, he slipped out of the back seat of the cab and into the chair.
“Thank you,” he said, putting his hands on the wheels.
“What can I do now?”
“You can grab one of those bags and follow me into the lobby.”
Normally Deke would take at least one bag on his own, but he knew for certain that if he did that, Quinn would fret, thinking he’d failed to meet Deke’s needs. The valet led the way, pushing the large luggage cart. Quinn kept Deke’s laptop back, clutching it to his chest. They went into the hotel, and the strangest sensation washed over Deke. His heart thundered, and his palms became slick with sweat. He had no idea why until he looked at Quinn. Gareth had told Deke that he could speak with Sean in his mind,
