“I—” She stopped, then met my gaze and shrugged.

“Gotya.” I’d known all along that I would, but that didn’t make that moment any less rewarding. The thrill of the chase was one thing, but it was the kill I lived for.

“I can do this, because I’m not your employee. I quit, and I meant it.”

“Of course, you did.”

“I did. I mean this, too.”

Her voice was almost a whisper, and her eyes were heavy-lidded, lowered to half-mast as she stood on tiptoes to kiss me. Her hands wove behind my neck, and under my ponytail, as she urged my lips closer to hers. I held back, not giving her what she wanted immediately, waiting for her impatient pull on the back of my neck. She was in. Really in.

I pushed my lips to hers, but didn’t open my mouth. I wanted her to ask me every step of the way. I waited, locked in position, until she began moving urgently, squashing her mouth harder against mine. Despite wanting to devour her alive, I held out a little longer. Just as I was about to give in, she opened her mouth, and began probing my lips with her tongue. She was thirsty, and I loved it. I parted my lips and let her in, which had her ravaging my mouth like she thought I might disappear into a puff of smoke if she didn’t.

She yanked at my neck harder, all the while kissing me like there was no tomorrow. Then her arms slid down to my chest, where she frantically pulled at the buttons of my shirt. I moved my hands in to help her, but didn’t interrupt the kiss. We had the offending item off me in no time, and sailing toward the brushed concrete floor.

Once it was gone, she pulled away from my mouth and lowered herself so that her head was aligned with my chest. She graced my pecs with a shock of tiny hot kisses, before narrowing in on one nipple, and sucking hard. Before I knew it, she was biting. This was going to kill me. I was so hard, it hurt. As though reading my mind, she straightened up, then returned her lips to mine, but this time, instead of gripping my neck again, she ran her hand down below my waist, then squeezed hard.

“Jesus. Fuck. Do that again, Nolan, and I can’t guarantee I’ll continue to control myself. Already my self-discipline is hanging by a thread over here.”

She stepped away a little then, her tawny-colored eyes trained on mine, as she began walking backward toward the couch. I grabbed her wrist, holding tight.

“Nope. Not the couch. We did that yesterday. Time to switch it up a little.”

She showed no signs that my grip was affecting her, but I was pretty sure I was squeezing hard enough to make an impression. In any case, I began walking back to my desk, and it was a tiny moment before she followed suit.

When I felt the desk hit the backs of my legs, I moved quickly, switching our positions so that she had her back to the desk, while mine was toward the door. I took one more step, knowing that as close as she was to the desk, the extra step would make her unbalance and fall onto it.

“Last night’s position was your preference. It’s only fair that now it’s my turn. Gentleman’s choice.”

“Gentleman? Will someone else be joining us?”

“Very fucking funny. If you’re going to be like that, I may have to tell you to be quiet, just like you told me yesterday.” I didn’t mention that the way she’d done that had turned me on more than anything I could remember in a long time.

Apart from the guys, I really wasn’t used to anyone telling me what to do, or how to behave. Hell, I wasn’t used to women not hanging on my every word, and doing exactly what the fuck I wanted, when and how I wanted. It was the first time in forever I’d felt like I needed to work for a woman’s approval, and whether it was just a matter of the novelty, or something else at play, I’d really fucking liked it.
