you, you love me—why not?”
“I don’t know. This is the first time I’ve ever seen where you live.” She shrugged. “Are we rushing into it? Normal people don’t move in together this fast, do they?”
He raised a brow with a chuckle. “Since when are we like normal people? Even death couldn’t separate us, love. Don’t let norms get in the way now.”
She blinked as his words sank in. He was right. Hell, as soon as she’d figured out that she loved Greyson and life wasn’t worthwhile if he wasn’t in it, she’d driven south without even packing her toothbrush. She’d been worried she might lose her nerve if she waited.
Why be afraid now?
She grinned. “You’re sure?”
“Aye.” He pressed his lips to her forehead. “What’s mine is yours.”
He rolled onto his back, and she snuggled in, resting her head on his chest. She closed her eyes, enjoying the sound of his steady heartbeat. Somehow, she’d found her perfect partner, brought together by a sword of legend.
His fingers traced a figure eight on her back. Infinity.
And it still wouldn’t be long enough to love him.
Epilogue
Two months later
Greyson parked outside a steel-gray metal warehouse building next to a private dock in Brunswick.
The suburb of Savannah boasted a busy port and was home to commercial fishers and the Georgia-Pacific paper mill. No one would ever guess a field office of a top-secret branch of the government ran operations from here.
“This is it?”
Aura nodded. “Yeah. Come on, I’ll show you the inside.”
He got out of his truck and waited for her to go ahead before he slid a bag out from under the seat. The past two months had been dizzying with change. He’d never been so damned happy.
Aura’s belongings from Washington, D.C., had finally arrived a couple weeks ago, and Agent Bale had made her position as head of the Savannah field office official, with a pay raise to boot. She’d reconnected with her folks and her sister now that the demon threat was over. Eventually she’d have to distance herself when they faked their deaths, but they’d face that day when it came. For now, he’d never seen her happier, and he wanted to do all he could to keep her that way.
He’d stopped accepting new clients for his security company. He didn’t need the money, and his plate was full between finishing the repairs to the Sea Dog and helping Aura get moved in and settled at his place. Their place.
He loved sharing his world with her.
She wasn’t going to join his crew like the other women had, but she was more than willing to sail with them. That was good enough for him. And his crew seemed to love her, too. It would be tough to imagine life getting any better.
He followed her over to a keypad on the side door. She punched in a code and pressed her thumb to the scanner pad. The lock disengaged, and they entered the building.
Aura flipped the light switch on the wall, and he took in the wall of computer screens. A row of security camera screens hung from the ceiling, giving them a view of the outside perimeter of the building.
He looked her way. “Impressive.”
Her eyes sparkled as she caught her lower lip in her teeth, driving him to distraction. “You haven’t seen anything yet.” She grabbed his hand and stopped, staring at the bag underneath his other arm. “What’s that?”
“It’s for later.”
“Later?” She raised a brow.
“Exactly.” He grinned and kissed her cheek. “Show me yer weapons, love.”
She smiled and led him to the other end of the warehouse, past filing cabinets and a shelf full of cell phones, tablets, and other tech devices he wasn’t familiar with. She came to another door with a keypad like the one installed outside.
As she entered the code, she glanced over her shoulder at him. “You’re not the only one with a surprise.”
She turned on the light, and it shone off polished metal that made his heart pound.
He walked past her, turning around as he took a mental inventory of rifles, handguns, a grenade launcher, various air rifles, a section of Tasers, and even a bazooka in the corner.
He clutched his chest playfully as he turned to face her. “And here I thought I couldn’t love you more.”
She laughed, shaking her head. “I’m glad you feel that way, because I’ve been granted the authority to hire an agent to work with me out of this field office.”
He blinked, picturing her with someone else at her side,
