Never a Saint - Lila Rose Page 0,18
it was funny and sweet at the same time.
Death shrugged. “Accident?”
“Probably.”
Death yelled, “Comes outta your pay, prospect.”
Kylo waved him off, taking note, but got back to work getting another drink.
Bethy’s other hand slid to my stomach. I caught her eyes and grabbed her hand. “Not now, honey.”
She pouted. “But, baby….”
I winked. “Maybe later, yeah. If you haven’t got another brother goin’, that is.”
She giggled. “We’ll have to wait and see.” She kissed my cheek and walked off, swaying her hips.
Bethy, like most women here, were club sluts. They were at the compound to party and fuck, and that was it. Okay, there were some who wanted to find an old man in the brotherhood, but we were smart enough not to join ourselves with a club slut because all they were after was the biker life. Not something real.
It was good to have them around when we wanted a wet hole to sink into, but I wasn’t into a relationship with a woman who had fucked all the other single, and some married, brothers.
“Not feelin’ it tonight?” Death asked when she was out of earshot.
“Nah, brother. Well, not Bethy anyway.” I didn’t dare look down the bar at Kylo because Death picked up on a lot of shit before it even registered in the person actually doing it. But yeah, I was in the mood for Kylo’s mouth once again. It’d been too damn long, and while the game of Kylo avoiding me was fun, I wanted to be around him more. I was ready to chase. Christ, my dick was so eager it jerked in my pants as if in search of my desires. Smiling, I asked, “What about you?” to get my mind off him.
He snorted. “Brother, you know I don’t go near the bunnies around here.”
Yeah, I did, but my mind had been on someone, and I’d forgot for a moment. Death preferred his women away from the compound. His tastes were flight attendants, bankers, lawyers, hell, anything that could challenge him and not be an easy piece of ass.
“Yeah, I remember.”
“Who’s at the club tonight?”
“State.”
“Did you hear about what happened to him a couple of days ago?” Death asked.
I nodded. “Yeah, fuckin’ stupid pigs.” State had been out on a date with the woman he was chasing, and the cops busted it up by arresting him on a charge of murder, which was all crap. It was lucky we had a good lawyer on the payroll. However, we hadn’t needed to call our lawyer since State’s woman had got one of the best in town, with the help of her parents, and sent them quickly to attend State. I could see good things happening for State and Courtney.
Kylo stopped in front of us. He gave us a chin lift. “Get you two anythin’?”
“Another beer,” Death said.
“I’ll have a whiskey.” I grinned.
He paused for a beat and then got to getting our drinks. Yeah, he was thinking about what happened in his bedroom—didn’t matter that a month had passed. Would he be hard? Had he enjoyed it as much as I did? Or was he still in his freak-out mode where whatever I did was throwing him off his usual game?
As he got our drinks, I turned to Death and asked him, “How’s business goin’?”
“Busy, always fuckin’ busy. We’re a bit run off our feet after openin’ the new brothels as well as another butcher shop.”
“Thought there’d be enough brothers with experience to help out?”
“Yeah, but I might eventually look into more, but then again, there’s more work involved with trainin’ them up.” He grabbed the beer Kylo held out. Death went on talking about something, but I watched as Kylo placed my drink down on the bar. Before he could move his hand away, I reached out and ran my fingers over his. I caught his jolt out of the corner of my eyes and felt him pull his hand away quickly as I nodded to Death.
“Maybe we should look at sellin’ the butcher places, and we’d have more brothers for the security side of things. Be better than employin’ outsiders.”
Death thought for a moment, then shrugged. “Somethin’ to think about.”
I nodded and sensed Kylo move back down the bar.
“Saint” was cooed from my other side. I turned and found Lee, another club girl. She ran her hand over my back. “How you doin’, baby?”
“Real good, darlin’, but busy talkin’ with my brother.” I smacked her on the ass. “Might catch ya later.”
She smiled sultrily. “You
