Moving On (Rolling Thunder #7) - P.J. Fiala Page 0,73

the art equipment and tools. It's like I've fallen into the place of my dreams."

Her right hand cupped the left side of his face and smoothed over his cheek and jaw.

"As long as I'm with you, I'll be happy anywhere and that's no lie."

He gazed deep into her eyes for a long time; deciding she wasn't lying. He pulled her into his arms and hugged her so tight she actually gasped for air.

"My God, I love you true."

"I love you true, too, Chase."

When her arms tightened around him his heart felt like it would explode.

"Also, we can look at the house at 2:00 today."

He spun her around, lifting her feet off the floor and whispered in her ear. "It's meant to be. All of this is meant to be."

Gil's laugh could be heard as he walked up behind him. Setting LuAnn's feet on the floor, he turned to face Gil.

"Is this what I think it is?" Gil asked.

"It is. I accept."

Gil's hand reached out quickly and grabbed his in a firm handshake. "I can't tell you how happy this makes me. I've had my eye on you for a longtime, young man."

"Thanks, Gil." He looked down at LuAnn. "We're very excited about this opportunity."

Gil reached forward to shake LuAnn's hand, but as their hands clasped, he pulled her in for a hug.

"We have to make it official. You're part of the family now."

LuAnn laughed, and Gil said, "Why don't we go and celebrate?"

LuAnn answered first, "Well, we have a house to go and look at soon. Can we celebrate later?"

Gil's laugh was loud, deep, and genuine. "A house you say. Where pray tell is this house?"

Chase's excitement was bursting through. "Out on Waverly Lake"

"Oh, well, I think I know which house that is and let me tell you, it needs a bit of work. The old man who owns it hasn't been well for a number of years now and he's let things go. But, it's a gorgeous piece of property and the house has potential just go in knowing that and you'll be fine."

He shook Gil's hand. It was nice to have someone who knew the area and could offer some opinions. Turning to LuAnn, he said, "Babe, pull it up on your phone again."

He watched as her thin nimble fingers tapped on her phone. She turned her phone to him, and he turned it to Gil.

"What do you think about the asking price? We're not familiar with the area."

"I'll tell you what, Chase. You offer him $20,000 less than he's asking, and I'd bet my right nut he'll take it."

"That will give us wiggle room to fix what needs to be fixed then. Thanks, Gil."

"You bet. You two have a great afternoon. How about we celebrate later in the week? I've got meetings all day tomorrow and Wednesday. Thursday I'm free. Why don't we plan on seeing some of the finer points of the area? At least unless you've seen them already."

Glancing at LuAnn, he saw her smile and he nodded to Gil. "Sounds like a plan."

Gil waved and headed toward his office and Chase took LuAnn's hand and headed toward the door. As they left the dealership, his heart was happy, and he felt...free. For the first time in a long time, he felt free. This puzzled him because he didn't really remember not feeling free before.

He opened the passenger door and waited for LuAnn to climb inside. Her slender legs encased in nicely fitting denim jeans always caught his attention. Her biker style boots peeked under the leg of her jeans and he thought that was the sexist way she could dress. Well, that was likely a stupid statement because for the weddings this weekend she looked fucking hot in her blue dress and heels. But, for some reason, that wasn't them. Not daily anyway. They were jeans and t-shirts kind of people and that was one of the things he really liked about LuAnn. She didn't fuss about pretty clothes or needing new shoes to go with every outfit. The boots she was wearing now were actually many years old.

Leaning in he gave her a kiss, closed her door and walked around the back of the Jeep taking another glance at the dealership.

He saw two of the shop guys sitting at a picnic table and drove up to where they sat. He stopped the Jeep and called their names, one was Buddy, they'd met him last night.

"Hey, Buddy. Mind if I ask you a few
