a honeymoon for us. I always reserve the honeymoon suite when we travel.”

“Oh, how sweet! We’re happy you’ve chosen to spend the next few honeymoon days with us. If you need anything, please let us know.”

He glanced at the woman’s name tag. “Thanks, Rosita. We just need directions to our cottage and the nearest shop with swimsuits.”

Rosita handed Owen a map of the resort with the path to their cottage highlighted. “The Surf Shop is on the way to your cottage. You can’t miss it.”

“I assume room service delivers all day and night? Sometimes we get hungry and thirsty in the middle of the night.” Owen glanced at Gigi, noticed the blush on her cheeks, and regretted embarrassing her. However, the couple they were impersonating frequently ordered room service in the middle of the night.

“Of course, Mr. Michaels. If we don’t have what you want, we’ll be glad to have it brought in for you.”

“Excellent. I want only the best for my wife.”

“I understand. We’ll do our best to accommodate your requests.”

He accepted key cards from Rosita and nodded his thanks.

“I’ll have a bellhop drive the golf cart to your cottage and carry your bags inside for you.”

“No, thanks. I prefer to handle our luggage myself.” He didn’t want a curious bellhop asking about the weight of his Go bag. With a nod, Owen threaded his fingers through Gigi’s with the other. He guided her from the building and to their SUV, then drove toward their cottage.

As they drove, Owen scanned their surroundings for threats as he listened to Gigi’s comments about the beauty of the resort and the interesting people she’d seen so far. His woman was a natural at playing the role of sweet chatterbox Gina, a role so unlike Gigi’s natural personality. He loved that Gigi talked when she had something to say and was comfortable with silence when she didn’t.

“Can we go to Hawaii one day, Owen?”

Gigi’s question drew his gaze to hers. “You want to vacation there?” As Gigi, not as Gina?

“I’ve always wanted to visit the islands.”

“Anything for you, G. I’ll make it happen.” Owen resumed scanning the area, the hairs on his nape prickling. Someone was watching their progress across the resort, perhaps more than one person.

Gigi squeezed his fingers. “What is it?” she whispered.

“Later,” he murmured. “Keep talking.”

She immediately continued her discussion of the things she wanted to see and do while they were in Hawaii. The only thing Owen wanted to do while visiting the islands was be with Gigi without interruptions from teammates and nosy brothers.

Ten minutes later, he grabbed their bags, unlocked the cottage and ushered Gigi inside. His eyebrows rose. Nice, really nice. Good thing Fortress was paying for the accommodations. Knowing Maddox, he’d pass along the bill to the government for reimbursement since Owen and his teammates were working at President Martin’s request.

He set down the bags and circled his finger to remind Gigi to keep talking while he searched their cottage for cameras and listening devices. Even if the cottage was clear, they’d have to be careful. Gonzalez was paranoid. Owen wouldn’t be surprised if he instructed his men to use an amplifier to listen to their conversation from a distance. That was why he’d encouraged Gigi to talk while they drove to the cottage.

Acting in character, Gigi kept up a running commentary about the cottage and the view. “Owen, we have to visit this resort again when we’re not on a business trip. I love this place. Can we bring my parents? I know they’d love it as much as I do.”

He glanced up from the electronic signal detector. “Not a problem as long as we have a cottage to ourselves. I want you all to myself at night, baby.”

Fresh color flooded Gigi’s cheeks. “You say the sweetest things to me.”

“I’m being truthful. Do your parents want to visit Mexico?” He turned back to his task as Gigi talked about how much her parents had longed to come on this trip but couldn’t because they were sick with the flu.

He smiled at the touch of truth because G’s parents had recently recovered from the flu. By the time Owen finished his circuit of the cottage, he’d found and disposed of five bugs and two cameras. “We’re clear,” he whispered. “Be careful, though. Someone outside could be listening.”

He clasped her hand and led Gigi to the bedroom where he deposited their bags. Owen motioned to the large standing safe in the closet. “I’ll put my equipment
