and even a few patterned diapers I thought he might be curious about.

But not wanting to make any decisions without Morgan’s input, I set the computer aside and tried to decide how else to fill the time until he woke up. Studying still didn’t hold enough of a draw, so I headed out to the kitchen and started looking through the cabinets.

A package of chocolate chips caught my eye, so I grabbed those and began making the batter for muffins. Unfortunately, mixing the ingredients gave my mind too much room to wander and I couldn’t help remembering the lingering images from my dreams…well, more like nightmares.

They weren’t as sharp in my mind anymore, but I remembered flashes of an angry Morgan and feeling like I’d failed him. It was the anger that had pulled me out of the dream. I remembered waking up thinking that Morgan didn’t get angry.

No, if I’d fucked it up that badly he’d be sad and would say something, but the anger wasn’t him, thankfully. But just the idea of what could go wrong had been enough to chase me from my bed. I’d regret it later, but for the time being I knew doing something productive would be the best way to move past it.

I just hoped Morgan didn’t think I was rushing things when I talked to him about the clothes later…well, not much later. A quick look at the clock on the stove said I’d been poking around online longer than I’d thought. Another few minutes browsing through the clothes site and I was fairly certain he wouldn’t complain too much.

He was too sweet to be too crabby.

Chapter 14

Morgan

“Come look at this.” Leon’s overly insistent voice had me shoving the covers off my head.

“What?” It was entirely too early to be up.

Especially when I was pretty sure it was Sunday.

I couldn’t even smell pancakes.

Leon was excited about something, though, because he walked over to the bed and sat down beside me, shoving his laptop in my face. “Which do you like better?”

Oh.

Suddenly I was much more awake.

Sitting up, I curled into his side and tried to focus on the screen to double-check what I was seeing before I said something. “Onesies?”

“Yes.” He’d clearly been up for quite a while because he was excited and intently studying the screen. “The reviews say they run true to size, but I’m not sure what that means since we’ve never bought one before. But I think we should try it out.”

I blinked a few times, then pointed to a small picture on the screen. “They have trains.”

He nodded and made the images scroll down. “I think we should pick out a few fun patterns for when you’re little here and then a few simple T-shirt-looking ones just in case you decide to wear it out in public with shorts or jeans over it. I know it sounds odd, but I’ve read a few blogs where they talk about feeling more confident out in public this way. The basic idea seemed to be that they felt more relaxed and happy in the regular world with a piece of their little side comforting them.”

How long had he been up?

“When did you get up?” The look he gave me as I straightened enough to see his face said that hadn’t been the question he’d expected.

“Um, forty-five minutes. I’ve got muffins ready to go in the oven whenever you’re ready.” Then he seemed to figure out where I was going with it. “No, I’ve been looking at these for days and I’d seen them when I was researching Destin’s little side.”

“Oh.” Yawning, I nodded. “That makes more sense.”

Muffins.

My brain was still lagging behind because when he stared at me, I couldn’t figure out what he wanted me to say. Was I supposed to say something about breakfast?

“The onesies? What do you think about ordering some of the plain ones?” He looked like he was getting ready to repeat it again when everything finally clicked for me.

“Oh, that.” I relaxed back into his side and rested my head on his shoulder, a more common position for me since our conversation about physical boundaries last week. “I haven’t really thought about doing that.”

“Is that a no? I won’t be upset. I’m just trying to find different ways to help you.” He shifted the computer so he could drape one arm across me in a modified hug. “Destin said you were usually stressed when he saw you out and I was worried about you.”

Yeah,
