Learning to Trust - M.A. Innes Page 0,19
and Avery. You were just a slut in training that, thankfully, fell in love with decent guys. By some fucking miracle.”
I wasn’t sure what to make of that lecture, but by the way Destin giggled it had to be a long-standing argument between the two.
Destin’s grin turned wicked as he responded. “I couldn’t be a slutty anything if I was a virgin.”
That sounded logical, but the look on Destin’s face said I was missing something.
“You went to the roughest gay bars in town and your first steps into serious dating were with two men. I rest my case.” Leon gave him a firm stare before turning back to the movie.
Destin leaned over conspiratorially. “I’d have been a fabulous slut if I’d found the right people sooner, but it took me a while to find Ray and Avery.”
They were strange.
“Whatever makes you happy. I’m not going to judge.” I was serious, but Leon snorted again.
“I’ll judge. It’s the only thing that keeps him safe and from doing something ridiculously dangerous.” He folded his arms and turned to give Destin another stare. “You are a trouble magnet.”
“I know.” Destin grinned. “It’s so much fun. Did I tell you that Daddy and Master Avery are going to take me to a BDSM club?”
“Good grief.” I thought that would be Leon’s only comment, but after a few seconds, he shook his head. “There is nothing wrong with sex, but it should be special and private.”
Destin rolled his eyes. “Nope, I’m done with rules about sex.”
Again, this seemed to be another long-standing discussion.
“We’ll agree to disagree. Now stop talking so we can finish the movie. We’re missing the best parts.” He leaned back in the chair and stretched his feet out. “I should have bought crayons or something to keep you occupied.”
Huh?
Destin nodded. “The big pack. No stingy crayon offerings.”
“Greedy boy.” Leon sounded gruff, but from the way Destin beamed and giggled, it must’ve been some kind of strange compliment.
“Yep. And I have a Master and a Daddy who love spoiling me.” Destin flopped over onto my shoulder, smiling at me. “Leon’s going to remember again in a minute and lecture me on being inappropriate, but you don’t mind if I talk about being little or a pup or having my Master and Daddy, right?”
“No.” It sounded a bit hectic and overwhelming personally, but I didn’t mind. “You be you.”
Destin’s beaming smile was back. “I knew I was going to like you the first time I saw you talking to Avery.”
They seemed to have a very unique relationship.
Destin had immediately jumped into friend mode without a single jealous thought seeming to cross his mind. Avery had seen Destin and one glance was all it had taken to bring the biggest smile over his face as he wrapped his arms around Destin.
I wanted that kind of relationship…but he had to be a Daddy.
I’d learned my lesson about settling and I wasn’t going to rush into any relationship unless it felt right. If Destin could find happiness with two guys, I could at least find it with one.
As the movie ended, Destin bounced up and started heading for the kitchen. “What do we have for dessert? I shouldn’t have let you go grocery shopping on your own.”
We?
I looked over to see Leon forcing back a grin. “I am not responsible for indulging your junk food habit. I already fed you waffles for dinner, for crying out loud.”
Sometimes he talked like my grandmother.
It was kind of cute.
“But they were healthy.” Destin was searching through the cabinet like he knew there was crap hidden in there somewhere. “You snuck some kind of healthy powdery stuff in there and there were nuts in the apples you put on top.”
Leon’s grin was wicked, but Destin was facing the wrong way to see it. “You’re insane. Those had a ridiculous amount of sugar.”
Maybe.
But the look on his face said Destin wasn’t wrong.
However, by the time Destin had given up searching for the goodies, Leon was back to looking boring again. “You do not need any more food.”
Destin stuck out his tongue at Leon but didn’t argue. “Fine.”
As he flopped back down on the couch, he smiled again. “So are we going to watch the next one?”
Leon’s face tightened. “How much work do you have to do for class next week?”
Huffing, Destin gave him a dirty look. “I’m not behind on anything and I’ve got my plan for the weekend.”
Nodding, Leon turned to me. “And you?”
My second thought was that it wasn’t his
