Karma (Kings of Rebellion MC Book 1) - K.T Fisher Page 0,61

There’s a balance here but it works. The men are in charge, and you can’t ever forget it but the women, although they stay in the background, they’re the backbone of this place.” She smiles at us both before carrying on. “The women believe that my Auntie Laura is sitting on the top.”

“Because she’s Franky’s old lady,” I nod. “And if your dad was VP, then your mum would be second in line.”

“Correct.” Elise adds. “She’s over it now, after Laura told her that they are sisters by marriage, my mum was happy.”

I look around at everyone, and yes there’s a ranking and an order of life but nobody is fighting it. I see no arguments and no jealousy. There may be an ordering around here, but it’s not pushed in anyone’s face and they all respect Franky. I can definitely see how they look at Brandon. They look up to them, unlike The Devil’s. They were all afraid of Demon.

My eyes go back to Brandon and I appreciate the way his body moves. The way his muscles ripple on his large biceps makes my breathing quicken.

“You know, you have been watching Brandon all morning.” Natasha moans.

“Really? I didn’t know.” Elise jokes.

“We kissed last night.” I admit and when I look back at them they are frozen in shock.

“Wow.” Elise whistles.

Drew appears a few minutes later and plonks herself in the seat opposite me. “How long do we have to stay here, locked up?”

“As long as The Devil’s pose a threat to you all, then you will stay here.” Brandon says as he places a hand on my shoulder and squeezes. “I will keep you safe.”

Natasha smirks, and without a word they all start to leave.

“I need to find mum.” Drew stands.

“Yeah, so do I.” Elise follows.

“And,” Natasha stands. “I will come with you.”

I laugh as they all run away, leaving Brandon and I alone. He sits himself right next me and smiles widely. His eyes shine and his dimples pop out from under his stubble. “So, we’re alone.”

“It seems so.” Excitement bubbles in my stomach just looking at him.

“Sorry I haven’t spoken to you yet.” He apologizes.

“Don’t worry I know you have business to tend to.” I can’t stop smiling. I don’t know what’s wrong with me.

Brandon nods and places his hand on my thigh. “I keep thinking about last night.”

“Which part?” I tease, even though I know exactly what he’s talking about.

Brandon glances down at my mouth, making me swipe my tongue along my bottom lip and releases a deep moan from the back of his throat.

“Need a reminder?” He asks and I fight myself not to jump all over him. I don’t know what is happening to me. I’ve gone from scared of any touching, to a horny freak the next.

I feel a little overwhelmed, so I take a breather and back away slightly. Brandon smiles, knowing exactly what’s going on inside of my fucked up head.

“My dad has decided we’re having a BBQ this weekend. He said last night lifted everyone’s spirits and wants to do it again.” He rolls his eyes.

“And you don’t?” I ask.

“No, I do but it’s not the only reason.” He smiles. “My dad just loves a party.”

“If it was anything like last night, it will be a blast.” I realize that he could take that as me talking about the kiss and blush.

“VP!” Shouts his dad from the doorway. “Grim!”

Brandon waves his hand, to get his dad’s attention and as soon as Franky sees him, he strolls over.

“Hi, Lauren.” He grins, but I don’t get a chance to answer because he turns straight to Brandon. “I need you in my office.”

“Is it urgent?” Brandon asks, sounding irritated.

“My office,” Franky roars and turns to leave.

“I’ll find you later.” Brandon kisses my forehead and leaves me to watch him follow his father to his office.

Chapter 41

The day of the BBQ arrives and for some unknown reason I feel so nervous. I take an extra-long time deciding what to wear. It’s a surprisingly hot summer day in England. Taking that into consideration, I choose my denim shorts and black, baggy blouse with my black high top Converse. Once I’ve straightened my hair and applied minimal make-up, I’m good to go.

Natasha got impatient and left before me, so I walk into the club room alone, but I soon spot Elise and when she sees me, she gives me the thumbs up. “You look great.” She praises.

“Thank you, so do you.” We link arms and make
