Sarah grinned, as she sipped some of her water. “That sounds amazing.”
“Yeah. I mean, it’s cool. I really am excited about it. But ...”
“But what?”
“I feel like they’re both going to want to go to the next level.”
“What do you mean? Sex?”
“No. Well, I mean, sure. I think if I were to say yes, they would be like, ‘Hell yes,’ but I’m not ready for that. You know? I’m not going to have sex with two guys on the second date. But I’m sure they’re going to want to make out. They’re going to want to do things and, well, I feel like that’s kind of wrong.”
“Why is that kind of wrong, girl?”
“I don’t know. I mean, is it weird to be making out with two guys? And invested in two guys?”
“Well you’re not invested in them, right? You’re just getting to know them, and seeing if they’re worth investing in. And you told me, Gemma ...”
“What did I tell you?”
“You told me it’s important to have physical attraction and chemistry. And you’ve told me you’ve had bad sex, right?”
“Yeah.”
“So you don’t want to end up with one of these guys not even knowing if they’re a good kisser or, you know, a bit more, do you?”
“I mean, that’s right. What’s that saying? Don’t buy the cow if the milk is free.” And then I paused. “Actually that doesn’t really relate here, does it?
“No, it doesn’t,” Sarah laughed. “But I mean, I think it’s okay. Yeah, would I recommend you having sex with both of them? Most probably not. But making out? That’s nothing. I’m sure they’re going on other dates with other girls, and who knows what they’re doing? And you know what? That’s okay, because you’re not in an exclusive relationship. Until you’re in an exclusive relationship, anything goes. Yeah, you can have that conversation with them. Ask them. How many other girls are they seeing? How many other girls are they talking to? Are they making out with other women? Are they having sex with other women? Be up-front and honest, right?”
“Yeah.” I looked at Sarah with appreciative eyes. “You’re right. I guess I shouldn’t be nervous about that. I mean, we are on a dating agency’s website to meet people and to find our potential match, so it’s not unrealistic to expect that they are dating just as much as I’m dating.”
“Exactly, girl. Don’t limit yourself. I can’t wait to hear more about these dates, though. What do you think you’re going to do next?”
“Well actually, the actually kind of cool part is I get to make the suggestions for the second dates.”
“Oh?”
“Yeah. So, like, for the first date, the guys gave me a list of suggestions. And now for the second date I’m meant to come up with a list of suggestions, so that’s something I’m going to think about tonight. I’m actually planning on seeing them both this weekend.”
I made a face. “Oh my gosh. I know that sounds absolutely awful, but I’m so excited. I haven’t had a date in ages, and this weekend I have two dates.”
“Oh cool. So what days?”
“Well I was thinking Friday and Saturday, but then a Friday evening date seems kind of murky.”
“Why do you think that?”
“Well if it’s evening, there might be higher expectations that it’s going to become a little bit more intimate. So now I’m thinking Saturday in the day, and a date Sunday in the day. And that way I can get to know them both during daylight hours, and see how much fun they can have.”
“Ooh, that sounds awesome. So what are some of your ideas?”
“Girl, I have no idea what I’m going to suggest. I want it to be fun, and I want it to be a little bit sexy. I want to be able to dress nice, you know? And I want to see how they react.”
“How they react to what?”
“I don’t know. I want to test them. I want to see how into me they are. I want to see who’s the most alpha, who’s more aggressive. I like a man that can take charge. So I’m thinking about some sort of challenging dates.”
“Ooh, that sounds like it could be fun.”
“Yeah. This is like a really good place to be in, for me. You know? I’m in the beginning of the dating ritual with two hot guys. Now I get to see which of the two guys I want to date more seriously. And it could be one or it
