How To Wife Your Nanny A Billionaire Single Dad Romantic Comedy- Melinda Minx Page 0,22
clean too, but I wanted Naomi to have her own space to fuck the hell up. It was normal for kids to make a giant mess of everything, and I wanted her to have the freedom to do that without a bunch of maids cleaning up everything straight away.
“Miss Lacey Larsen!” Naomi shouted. “Is she my new Carla?”
She ran up and hugged Lacey. Grabbing her by the legs and pressing her face up into her bare thighs.
“I’m really sweaty,” Lacey said, wincing, but patting Naomi on the head all the same. “Sorry if I smell bad.”
“I should have given you more notice,” I said. “I apologize.”
Naomi let go of Lacey’s legs and grabbed her hand. “I’m packing my suitcase! Daddy, Daddy! Where are my Peppa Pig books?”
“What are we packing for?” Lacey asked.
“We have to be at the pier in an hour,” I said. “We’re going on a cruise.”
Lacey’s eyes widened for a brief moment, but she got herself back in check and nodded calmly. She spoke in a slow and deliberate way, trying to keep the emotion out of her voice. “I didn’t pack anything. This is all I have.” She pointed down at her outfit, which gave me another excuse to check her out.
“I got some stuff for you,” I said. “Well, I got someone to get some stuff for you.”
“You picked clothes out for me?”
I got one of the women on my staff to go shopping for her. She still wasn’t back yet.
“I didn’t pick anything out,” I said. “Don’t worry. This is much more than a cruise. It’s full luxury everything. If you don’t like what my assistant gets you, you’ll be able to pick out different clothes once we’re on board.”
“Okay,” she said. “Any chance I have time for a shower?”
“Once we’re on board,” I said. “Sorry, but we really have to get going.”
“Daddy! My Peppa Pig boooooooooks!”
Lacey looked around at the mess forming around Naomi’s open suitcase. She crouched down and looked through the books. “You know what, Naomi? I have a really neat idea.”
“I love ideas,” Naomi said, looking up at Lacey and forgetting her twenty pounds worth of Peppa Pig books.
“Can your Daddy get me some paper and markers?”
“I sure can,” I said, going straight for the drawer that had all of Naomi’s art supplies.
I grabbed a big stack of colored construction paper and a pack of magic markers. “This good?”
“Perfect!” Lacey said. “Glue?”
I rummaged through the drawer and found a glue stick. I handed it to Lacey.
“Are we going to make something?” Naomi asked.
“We sure are. We’re going to write and draw some new Gobblegurt books. That way we don’t even have to bring any books in our suitcase. We’ll make and read our own new books on the cruise. Doesn’t that sound fun?”
“Yeah!” Naomi said. “Maybe a princess Gobblegurt!”
“Ohhhh!” Lacey said, smiling. “That is such a great idea!”
I sighed relief. Lacey was already working miracles. Not having to bring any books was going to save me so much hassle.
I started throwing Naomi’s most important toys into her suitcase, the ones she’d throw a tantrum over if she didn’t have with her. I packed in all the art supplies, and threw a few more in for good measure.
“I need to pack a few more things for myself,” I said. “You good to stay with Naomi for a bit?”
“Of course,” Lacey said, shooting me a thumbs up, “I’m her nanny.”
Janine, my assistant, got back just as I was loading Naomi into the car. She rolled up a suitcase and looked Lacey up and down. “Good news. I got your size right.” She went to hand Lacey the suitcase, but I grabbed it.
I threw it into the trunk with all of our other stuff.
“Toothpaste,” Janine said, “shampoo...everything that you’d need. I got it in there. I hope you like your new wardrobe.”
“Thank you,” Lacey said.
Janine nodded to us. “Enjoy the trip. You sure you don’t need—”
I shook my head. “I know you want to go, but Silas barely managed to get us these three tickets.”
“See you at work when you get back then, Mr. Black.”
“Yep, see you at the office.”
I opened the door for Lacey, and she got in. Andreas was sitting in the car already with the engine running. He kept looking at the clock, and then nervously back at me. He hated being late, which is why I paid him the big bucks.
“Alright! Let’s go!” I jumped in and shut the door behind us.
