pot for the club. Don't count on the extra change for a while, profits need to grow. Spread the word and let's get the news out." Priest flipped over the piece of paper. "I've got updates on the brothers in prison and will stay after the meeting if anyone needs to pass on information for our next trip two weeks from tomorrow."
Chairs scooted against the floor. Priest held up his hand. "Hold on."
Curley remained sitting, having already gone through the notes for the weekly meeting. "I need Frank, Paco, Rick, and Whip to hang around. Everyone else can leave. Hammer get the prospects on a schedule and put them to work cleaning mugs at Promise. Let them do some scrap work while there's a road crew in California. Everyone else, eyes open, ears to the ground this week. I do not want shit going down that's not a concern for Tarkio."
The noise escalated as the men stood as one and left the room. Once everyone but the chosen members was left in the room, Priest shut the door and returned to the table.
"What's up, Prez?" Paco tapped his foot under the table.
"I want you planted at my house while I'm gone, looking after Nicole," said Priest.
"Inside or outside?" Paco straightened in the chair.
A low growl came from Priest. "Outside. During the day, while you catch some winks, Frank will cover for you."
Curley cleared his throat. "I need you to stay home this ride, Rick. I'm going to send Faye to your house on Friday. I need you to let Tracy know and see if she'll ask Faye to come over and help out with the kids or have a movie night, whatever will get her there."
"Reason?" asked Rick.
"We've heard Cusclan Motorcycle Club is meeting Lagsturns halfway between Missoula and Federal. That's too close for comfort, and since Faye is living with me and both clubs have me on their radar, I don't want them making a visit while she's there alone. On the other days of the week, when Faye is home or working at Promise, she'll be your job, Whip."
Whip chuckled. "After you tried to beat the shit out of me for giving her a hug?"
"Remember who she belongs to, and we won't have any problems." Now that he'd talked to Whip and informed him that Faye belonged to him, he trusted his MC brother about as far as he could throw him. But he also knew Whip would protect her.
Whip had known Faye when they were both young. He'd looked out for her when she went over to play with Tracy. He understood the importance of not letting anything happen to her.
"Right on." Whip dipped his chin. "She'll be fine."
"I want on the next ride." Rick waited for Priest to agree, then nodded his compliance.
Rick wasn't one to take a backseat or not have his hand in club business. Curley had to respect his loyalty to Tarkio.
"We've been shut up in here too long. I need a drink." Priest stood. "Enjoy the next few days, because on Monday it's going to be a long fucking week."
Curley wanted to go home. The less time Faye spent around the clubhouse, the better his chances that she wouldn't overhear a conversation she wasn't meant to hear. The ladies of Tarkio had a talent for not keeping their nose out of club business when they heard their man's name spoken.
In the main room, he looked around for Faye and found her sitting on the couch, bouncing Rick and Tracy's youngest kid on her knees. His gut hardened. If it wasn't for him, she'd probably be settled down with a baby of her own, or maybe two.
He had no idea if she wanted kids. Neither one of them had a childhood that made them want to recreate what they'd already lived through.
Faye gave the baby to Tracy and leaned toward Nicole. Her mouth was moving at the same time as she nodded. Having grown up around the clubhouse, Faye knew the difference between the ladies and the women who hung around looking for a biker to hook up with. She also knew her place.
While she'd gone on to make friends on her own, she appeared comfortable around the others she hadn't met before today.
She deserved her space within Tarkio.
To know that it all could be ruined if she found out the real reason why her Uncle Walker was in prison was never far from his thoughts. Tarkio would never push her away, but
