Heart Of Darkness (Transfusion Saga #10) - Stephanie Hudson Page 0,93

how scary he was now I still knew with utter certainty that he wouldn't hurt me. So, I turned back to the King and said,

“Please let me go, for he will only get worse, can’t you see that!” I said as he knocked even more of his men back, many of which now lay bleeding on the floor in need of help.

“He will rip you apart, just look at him! You really wish to go to this monster?!” he barked back at me and I narrowed my eyes up at him and said with absolute certainty in my voice,

“Yes, now let me go so that I may save your Fae ass!” At this he released a sigh as if he knew he had lost.

“Very well, let it be your fate, for I will not sacrifice my people for a foolish life,” then he held out his arm so that I may pass, and finally I had my moment. The King ordered to his men to stand down, no doubt worried that I would be caught in the crossfire despite his words.

So I ran, rushing down the steps, and as I did, I turned and looked over my shoulder to tell the King,

“You may think he's a monster, but he is my monster!”

Then I ran to Lucius, without a shred of doubt to cloud my judgement, for nothing could keep us apart in this moment, least of all his demon. So I ran and I kept running until at the very last moment he saw me. He saw me coming at him and instantly I took it as a good sign when his weapon disappeared, joining back with the rest of his demonic armour.

Then when I was close enough, he knew what I was about to do, and he was ready for it, and he caught me just before the impact would have hurt when throwing myself into his arms. Instead, he gripped my waist and lifted me to the right height to his face, so we could have this perfect moment. Because despite the bloodshed, that was exactly what it was! It was the moment that I could finally place my hand on his cheek and tell him with tears running down my face,

“What took you so long?” Then without waiting for my answer I kissed him, anchoring his lips to mine, by grabbing a fist full of his hair and holding him to me. The shock of my actions took him a second of surprise before he too was kissing me back and, in that moment, the entire room vanished. Everything went silent, in fact, it was almost as if everything around us just disappeared completely. It was as if the whole world evaporated into dust because nothing else mattered but the fact that we were in each other’s arms once more.

And that kiss was all there was for me.

The kiss from the man I loved.

“Amelia, my Khuba, my sun, my Chosen One… I have you, I have you once more,” he told me and again the tears continued to fall, as I placed my forehead to his and closed my eyes, just breathing him in. It felt like a lifetime, far too many memories in between the last time I saw him. Too many moments where I'd ask myself if I was ever going to see him again! Far too many threats I had faced without getting him at the end to hold me, and having him here now opened the floodgates of my own emotions, to the point where I could barely breathe. I felt as though I was going to burst, and everything would come pouring out!

“I… I love you… so much Lucius… so very much,” I said through my tears and I felt him grip me tighter before he lowered me to the ground so he could cup my cheek. Something which ended up being the whole side of my head thanks to how big his hand seemed in his demonic gauntlet. But this way he could look down at me and wipe my tears away with the back of a taloned hand, one that just proved my point… my monster would never hurt me, he would only ever kill for me.

“Found at last, my little human,” he said as if mimicking the last time he’d said this in his own throne room. It was as if it had all been a cruel twist of fate for this to be happening yet again. Which had
