Hard Knox - Riley Hart Page 0,63

I was lucky to have been married to her and would be her friend forever.

“Then the rest will fall into place. I think the most important thing is you and Callum. Do you want the same things? Are you okay with more than secretly sucking on a guy’s neck? With being public?”

I rolled my eyes, knowing he was trying to be playful, but he was right. Regardless of how right it felt when it was only me and Callum, it’d be naive to think it would all be easy. Callum and I needed to make sure we were on the same page, which meant I needed to figure out exactly what I wanted from this. All I knew was, I wanted him. “Yeah, I hear you. Now I’m done with the mushy shit for today.”

Law laughed, but even though we didn’t talk about it anymore, it was never far from my mind.

“You have your medication?” I asked Logan as we stood in the busy airport.

“Yeah. This is the third time you’ve asked, and you put it in my carry-on.”

“What about your phone charger?” Callum confirmed. “That cash your dad gave you, and oh, your school ID and list of emergency numbers?”

“Oh my God. You guys are treating me like a baby. Both of you.” His eyes darted between Callum and me. “Sheesh, who knew I’d know what it was like to have two dads.”

My whole body stiffened. Did that mean he knew? If so, he sounded like he was okay with it, but what if he had questions and—

“Why are you making a face like a dead fish?” Logan added, which snapped me out of it.

“I’m not, you little brat. And I like that I have someone to gang up on you with.” I said it teasingly, but it was a way of testing the waters, maybe for both of us.

Logan rolled his eyes. He didn’t have the chance to say much in reply because it was time for him to board. Since he was flying unaccompanied, we were able to come to the gate with him. We’d already spoken with an employee who would get him into his seat and all that.

“Come here,” Callum said, and Logan went. “I’m going to miss you.”

“It’s only two weeks,” Logan countered.

“Well, apparently you won’t miss me,” Callum joked.

“I will. Take care of Dad while I’m gone. Make sure he eats all his vegetables.” Logan hugged him again while the three of us laughed. It made my heart hitch, seeing them together. It always did.

Logan came over to me next. We hugged, and I pressed a kiss to the top of his head. “I love you, buddy. I’ll take good care of Frankie Blue for you while you’re gone.”

“Thanks, Dad. Love you too.”

Logan walked toward the flight attendant waiting for him, then stopped and looked over his shoulder. “Don’t have too much fun without me while I’m gone!”

It was said innocently, and I would miss my son, but I was definitely hoping to have lots of fun with Callum while he was gone.

“We’ll try,” Cal said.

“He’s in good hand, Dads.” The flight attendant smiled and turned around. I froze, my gaze darting to Logan, who just smiled and walked away. He didn’t correct her or question me. It could have been because he didn’t think it was true but didn’t bother to tell her, or maybe he knew we were together.

“Breathe, Knox. It’s fine.”

“I’m not breathing?” I asked, and he chuckled.

“So like…we’re not listening to him, right? Please tell me we’re planning on having lots and lots of fun while he’s gone.”

I smiled, felt like my damn body was glowing. It was a ridiculous way to feel, but that’s what he did to me. “Oh yeah.”

“Can we start today?”

My dick stirred at the question. Christ, he did it for me, in every way possible. “As if there’s another option?” He laughed again. I loved the sound of his joy—excitement and happiness with this masculine sort of melody.

We hung around until Logan’s plane took off, before I said, “Come on.” And then I didn’t let myself stress, didn’t let myself worry. I put my arm around him, and sure, it was in Richmond, where we weren’t likely to see anyone we knew, but it meant something to me. It was the first time I’d been able to do something like this with him in public, and while I hadn’t known I needed it, the pressure that eased from my body said I did.

Callum didn’t
