find him a girl,” she sighed. I loved her sweetness. Crystal and Grace were staying at Doc’s house with plenty of protection.
“Speaking of girls, the drugs weren’t the only things in the shipment.” I cringed when I thought about her reaction.
“Oh, no. Please tell me you didn’t let them be taken.”
“They are with us. We’ll need them to be looked over.”
“Okay. When are you coming home?” The pleading in her voice made my heart melt. The woman loved me the way I loved her. Now, I needed her pregnant and married to me like fucking yesterday. Once I returned from the dead, Grace would be my wife.
“I’ll be there in two hours,” I promised her.
“Good. Doc is taking me to start at the clinic this morning, so bring them in.”
“Fantastic. Thank you, my angel.”
“Be careful. I miss you.” My heart thumped unsteadily hearing how much she missed me. I loved her beyond reason. I only had to prove worthy of her. Hell, I think that would take a lifetime.
“Take care of my treasure. I’ll be there soon.” I ended the call and caught the girls’ reactions in the rearview mirror. A look of shock covered them, but I ignored them and said that they would be examined by a female doctor.
Chapter 15
Grace
Hearing Ricardo’s voice calmed my entire being. The worry that he could be taken from me was all that occupied my mind throughout the night. I hadn’t slept most of the night. Once I had passed out from exhaustion, a horrible nightmare of him being taken away from me sent me jumping out of bed, covered in sweat.
I stayed at his home with Sophia while we waited for them to return. “Are you ready for your first real day at the clinic?”
“As ready as I’ll ever be,” I yawned, causing Doc to chuckle.
“Yeah, sounds like it. I know you’ll do fine, even if you’re tired. Just hide your yawns from the patients.” He winked and poured coffee for us. Sophia walked in the room in just a tee shirt, which I assumed was Doc’s.
“Sophia,” he growled.
“What?” Did she just purr? He walked around the island and quickly flipped her into his arms and carried her back to their bedroom. I giggled, thinking every single one of these Rider men were possessive and nuts about their women.
A half hour later, we were both walking out to his vehicle. Sophia would be meeting with her sister today while Doc was training me and giving me the rundown of the clinic’s operations.
“Did you get the message about the girls they’re bringing with?” I asked Doc as we drove to the clinic.
“Yes. I’d prefer if they met with you. This is going to be a hard moment for them, especially with everything they’ve been through and what they witnessed last night.”
“That’s what I figured. Do you have rape test kits or DNA gathering kits, at the very least?”
“Yes, I do. We’ve never needed them before, but they’re in stock. Dr. Evan’s stocked it up just in case.”
“Smart woman.” Having dealt with rape victims before, I could handle these ladies, but I believed they still needed counseling afterward.
“I have a feeling you two will get along well and start ganging up on me.” In the week that I’d been here, I learned the ladies had fun teaming up on the guys who were downright bossy and growly all the time. It was like a pack of wolves instead of bikers.
“Never. I’m actually looking forward to meeting her. When does she come back?”
“Next week.”
“That’s great. My dad said he met her, and she was lovely.”
“She is. A tough woman and fantastic doctor.” He pulled into his parking spot and then we exited the truck. “Ready?” he asked, holding the clinic door open for me.
“Good morning, Dr. Simmons.”
“Good morning, Annelise. I’d like you to meet Dr. Grace Holden. She’ll be working alongside Dr. Evans and me.”
“Hello, Dr. Holden. Just let me know if you need anything.” She smiled sweetly up at me, standing behind the desk. Annelise couldn’t be any more than five two, but every bit of her screamed adorable.
“Thank you, Annelise.” Doc took me around to each room and then into the office and lab areas.
“This place is perfect. If I never had to work in the ED again, I’d be happy in a place like this.”
“You got it. Although once we do open the hospital, it would be great to have you there for the less serious cases if it makes you feel
