you don’t, I might have to kill you.”
Shea trailed his fingers over Jake’s face, tracing the jut of his cheekbone and the line of his jaw. “Three days. That’s all I got.”
“Then you better start making up for lost time, cowboy. A little less talking and a little more mouth-to-mouth.”
But Shea wasn’t in any hurry. He wanted to savor these moments. “You hush and lemme be the boss right now.” He brushed his lips over Jake’s. “Sweet.” He continued the featherlight pressure of their lips together until Jake shifted under him.
“Shea,” he said with a warning. “I’m not joking.”
“Mmhmm. Neither am I.”
He settled his mouth over Jake’s and closed his eyes as his head spun. They grasped each other as if each were drowning and needed the other to breathe. The kiss turned from a slow, sensual meeting of lips to frantic, hot, greedy need. A desperate attempt to imprint the taste of Jake into his lips and tongue and soul.
“Shea, hold up.”
He dimly heard Jake call his name and tore himself away. “What?” He panted and winced as his dick strained in his jeans.
Jake smiled wryly and patted his cheek. “Unfortunately, I’m still at work, and while there’s nothing I’d like more than to lock the door and take this further…” His eyes held Shea’s, and from their fiery glint, Shea had no problem reading the inference. “I can’t.” He cupped Shea’s cheek. “But that doesn’t mean I don’t want to see more of you. What’s your schedule like for the days you’re here?”
Gathering his shredded wits, Shea stepped away from Jake and planted his butt in a chair. The man was way too tempting to be near and not touch, especially in his sleek suit, looking like a damn GQ model. Rumpled from their kissing, Jake straightened his tie and fixed the collar of his green-and-white-striped shirt, but he couldn’t hide his slightly swollen lips or reddened cheeks.
“I’m shootin’ tomorrow in Central Park. Startin’ early, ’round seven, to get the right light, and then once we’re done there, we’re goin’ to Rockerfeller Center.”
“Rockefeller Center. Only two r’s.” His eyes lit up with laughter.
“Well, whatever. I’ll learn soon enough.” Shea took in the expansive view from the windows behind Jake’s desk. “Damn, I dunno how you get any work done here while looking out there.”
Jake crossed the office and bent to kiss him before sitting behind his desk. “Simple. I don’t have time to look.” His gaze turned thoughtful and lingered so long on Shea, he grew nervous.
“What? Why’re you starin’ at me like that?”
“Do you want to have dinner tonight? I always eat with my daughter, but I don’t like thinking of you all alone in your hotel room.”
Shea’s heart leaped. “That would be nice. Obviously, I don’t know where to go, but really anywhere would be fine with me.”
Jake kept that intense green-eyed stare on him. “I can’t invite you into my home just yet. I hope you understand.”
“ ’Course I do. I’m a stranger, and your little girl wouldn’t understand. I get that.”
“But I still want to see you. So if you’re willing to make it an early evening, I can leave here, and we can spend some time together. It’s summertime Friday hours, and since I’m my own boss, I can leave when I want. Hold on.” He hit a button on his phone. “Keisha? Reschedule my meeting with Maria to Monday morning, please. I’m taking the afternoon off.”
Seeing Jake in his high-powered environment was a turn-on, but Shea didn’t need much of an incentive. Through lowered lashes, he watched Jake. “Yes. It’s really me. No, I haven’t been taken over by a pod person.”
Shea snorted as Jake rolled his eyes. His face turned pink. “Yes, Keisha.…I don’t know yet.…Uh-huh. You know you’re replaceable, right?…Good-bye. I’m hanging up now.”
Still blushing, he opened the desk drawer and took out his keys and cell phone. “Ready?”
Shea hopped to his feet, and before Jake could open the office door, he put a hand on his shoulder. “You’re cute when you get all red in the face.”
Jake fiddled with his keys. “I haven’t been called cute since high school.”
“No?” Shea put a hand under Jake’s chin and placed a kiss on his half-open mouth. “Guess you haven’t been hangin’ out with the right kinda people.”
Silent, Jake opened the door, and Shea followed on his heels. Jake continued walking, but Shea stopped at Keisha’s desk. She was doing a damn poor job of not staring, and he picked up her
