His body stiffened and he watched with a weird mixture of anxiety and anger as the very object of his obsession walked by the shop. She was with Lucas and Preacher’s hands turned into fists when he said something to her, and she laughed. She was wearing a pretty blue dress with her usual pearls around her neck and her soft hair was in a high ponytail. She looked fucking amazing and hot jealousy flooded through him as they continued down the sidewalk and disappeared from his view.
She didn’t even glance into your shop, did she? She was too busy laughing at whatever Lucas was saying, wasn’t she?
Had she dressed up for Lucas? Did she plan on taking him back to her place later and showing him those practical and weirdly sexy cotton panties she was always wearing? The jealousy was a fire-breathing dragon inside of him. It would be a cold fucking day in hell before Lucas saw Addie’s goddamn panties. He headed for the front door as Nolan swirled the mop on the floor in front of the counter.
“Where you off to?” Nolan said.
“Getting some lunch.” Preacher pushed open the shop door.
The heat settled over him like a warm wet glove. He headed after Addison and Lucas, cursing inwardly at the crowds of tourists lingering on the sidewalks and walking about as fast as fucking turtles.
He gritted his teeth and tried not to break the guy in half who had stopped in the middle of the sidewalk to take a picture of the barrel of flowers in front of Grind My Beans. Jesus Christ, had he never seen fucking flowers before?
He pushed his way past the tourist. He could see the back of Lucas’s head about a block ahead and occasionally, a glimpse of Addison’s dress through the throng of people. He quickened his pace, sweat starting to collect at his temples.
By the time he reached the yarn shop, Lucas and Addison were already inside. Preacher reached for the door handle.
What the fuck are you doing? Have you lost your fucking mind? What kind of excuse are you going to give Addison for showing up in a yarn shop? And what if he is touching her? What if she’s having a good time with him? You have no fucking right to be jealous, and if she wants to start dating Lucas, it isn’t any of your business. Walk away before you make a complete fool of yourself.
He backed away from the yarn shop like it was on fire. What the fuck? He’d been about to storm into a goddamn yarn shop just because a woman he was casually fucking was in there with another guy.
His headache surged forward, a blinding and pulsing pain that threatened to become a full-blown migraine. Sick to his stomach at even the thought of getting a migraine, he turned and walked back toward Nan’s. He’d grab a bite to eat and try not to think about Addison and what she may or may not do with that asshole gamer.

“Can I just say that I am very glad I brought you with me?” Lucas touched a hank of yarn hanging on the wall. “My mom’s been knitting since I was a kid and I’m still a complete idiot about yarn.”
Addison laughed. “Well, there is a lot to choose from. What does your mom -”
