it’s super important that Ty never finds out that you know. Dave didn’t technically break the NDA, but he could still be found liable, which would mean he’d be responsible for paying Tiff a lot of money.”
The severity of the situation finally hit him.
In his silence, I stated, “You have six questions left.”
“Do you have to do any filming with Adam?”
It was slight, almost unnoticeable, but I saw it—the twinge of jealousy at the thought of Adam spending time with me. Part of me celebrated the sight. It was like I had a small gang of teenage girls inside jumping for joy and giggling at the excitement of the cute boy smiling at them.
I did my best to keep a straight face while responding, not wanting him to know that I’d noticed his tangible thought. “No, he didn’t want anything to do with the show, so he made sure they don’t film him at all. Which works out well for me because that means I don’t have to be around him. I don’t know much about him, but if he’s with my sister, then there’s something wrong with him.”
Jacoby laughed beneath his breath and slightly shook his head. “I think I’m going to reserve my remaining five questions for another time. I’d be wasting them if I had to use them right now. Plus, that controller is calling my name,” he said, pointing to the one I’d been using before he showed up.
I was not about to argue. Playing video games was so much better than talking about my sister or the dangers of anyone finding out the truth. Gaming was easy, fun, and it didn’t require a conversation.
“How about we make things interesting?” he asked with a glint in his eye.
“What do you have in mind?”
“The loser has to massage the winner’s feet.”
I didn’t care to touch feet, but I did enjoy a good foot rub. “Deal.”
It didn’t take long before I realized I’d been playing against Dave for far too long. It seemed I was so used to his tactics and moves that it hindered my ability to play strategically against Jacoby. Before I knew it, my lives had been depleted, but when I checked the left side of the screen, I noticed his lives were still very much intact. I couldn’t lose for several reasons, but the biggest being my incredible disgust for feet. It was so severe that it trumped my pride, the need to be the best.
While waiting for my lives to replenish, I made a bold decision.
Some might say it was cheating, but I wouldn’t call it that. I considered it a true test of his ability to play. Sure, it involved some…nontraditional tactics, but I wasn’t afraid of a little dirty work if it got the job done. Even though it went against my typical behavior, by the time I realized it, it was too late. I’d gone too far and was unable to stop myself.
It started out with just a little light petting. A simple stroke down his arm, a light caress of my fingertips along the top of his thigh. Then his breathing grew labored, so I leaned closer. I brought my lips close enough to his ear so that he could feel my soft exhale.
At this point, I was still very much in control of things.
Besides, this wasn’t my way of making a move. This was my way of winning a bet.
Jacoby continued to play the game, trying his best to ignore my advances. Although, I could tell I was gaining traction based on how hard he was now pressing the buttons on the controller. His arms jerked wildly without rhythm, which helped prove that I was beginning to get to him. So I stuck out my tongue just enough to trace the curve of his ear, and at the sound of his frustrated groan—either sexually or because of the game, it was hard to tell—I pulled his earlobe between my lips.
That’s when everything changed.
His arms went limp, and I no longer heard the harsh clacking of the buttons on the controller. Either my heart had begun to pound so heavily that I couldn’t hear anything else, or he’d relented. All it would take was a quick glance at the TV screen to figure out where things stood, but there was something about his scent that kept me focused on what was in front of me.
I was no longer in control of my actions.
Actually, I probably hadn’t been this entire
